While Wesley Bryan has built a huge fanbase due to the popularity of the YouTube channel he shares with his brother George, not all players on the PGA Tour seem quite as comfortable putting themselves in the spotlight – including world number one Scottie Scheffler.

Golf has had a number of amazing characters over the years. The likes of Arnold Palmer and Seve Ballesteros had a charisma that was almost difficult to explain, while Tiger Woods seemed to change the game when he emerged onto the scene.

Rory McIlroy then emerged as Woods’ successor and has remained arguably the biggest superstar in the game despite challenges from the likes of Jordan Spieth and Bryson DeChambeau over the years.

Now of course, it is Scottie Scheffler who appears to be superhuman on a consistent basis. However, it is probably fair to say that Scheffler is more of a silent assassin. There is rarely any histrionics from the two-time major champion. Instead, the 28-year-old seems to blow the competition away with his amazing consistency.

With that, the fans may feel that they struggle to warm to Scheffler in the same way they do when it comes to McIlroy or DeChambeau. But speaking on Nate Edwardson Golf, Wesley Bryan shared that Scheffler is every bit as likeable behind the scenes as he seems.

“He’s such an awesome dude, too. Just real life, one of the more genuine, good dudes that exist. Now it happens to be he’s the best player of the last 20 years or whatever, but yeah, he’s as genuine of a human as you’ll ever find,” he said.

Why Scheffler is the wildcard in upcoming match with Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau

It is easy to forget just how early Scheffler is in his career. He went into the 2021 Ryder Cup having not won on the PGA Tour, so the rise has been a rapid one. With that, he is perhaps not yet comfortable being a little more emotional during tournaments.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Scheffler behaves during The Match alongside Rory McIlroy this month. Both Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka have taken part in The Match previously, while McIlroy has never been afraid to speak his mind.

So if there is some trash-talking going on at Shadow Creek, Scheffler may end up showing a very different side to himself. Given his status as the world’s best player and, by all accounts, a great person, Scheffler is arguably the most intriguing component of the upcoming spectacle.
