Padraig Harrington is tied for the lead at the US Senior Open after two rounds at the Broadmoor Golf Club.

Harrington has fired back-to-back rounds of three-under par 67, and he shares the lead with Stewart Cink and Mark Hensby.

The 53-year-old won the Senior US Open back in 2022 – one of nine victories that he has had on the PGA Tour Champions.

Harrington missed out on winning the Senior PGA Championship last month, with Angel Cabrera pipping him to the title at Congressional by a solitary shot.

The three-time major champion is often extremely outspoken regarding issues on tour, although he rarely loses his cool.

Harrington recently urged the USGA to stop pandering to the shorter hitters on the senior circuit.

The two-time Open champion believes that courses on the PGA Tour Champions should be longer, with his length a real asset when competing against those aged 50 and above.

Broadmoor Golf Club this week is right up Harrington’s alley. The 7,247-yard, par 70 layout represents an incredibly difficult test of golf.

However, Harrington was unhappy after he finished his second round.

The Irishman and the NBC reporter clashed at Broadmoor Golf Club on Friday.

Maltbie – a five-time PGA Tour winner – has been an on-course reporter for NBC since the 1990s.

And Harrington was seemingly not happy one little bit with Maltbie on Friday afternoon.

KOAA News5 reporter Brett Forrest captured footage of the heated exchange between the Irishman and NBC’s on-course reporter after the second round at Broadmoor Golf Club.

And neither man backed down:

Judging by the video, it seems like Harrington was unhappy with Maltbie for not helping him look for his ball on one hole during day two of the US Open.

What Padraig Harrington said about Keegan Bradley playing at the Ryder Cup

Earlier this week, Harrington spoke about Bradley’s fine form on the PGA Tour this season.

And Harrington gave his opinion on whether Bradley should act as a playing captain for the U.S. Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black in September.

“Keegan is a player that the Europeans don’t want to play against. Everything about him, he’s a really tough competitor,” Harrington said.

“Even his mannerisms, it’s not easy to play against. But even the shot he hit on 18, he’s very ballsy and he hits the shots at the end of the day, so there’s a lot of players you could tee it up against and you wouldn’t choose Keegan as one of them. He’s going to get it done.

“Obviously the competition for the US now is he’s captain and should he step down from captain and play. He’s definitely in the best 12 players, without doubt. I don’t think he can be captain and play.

“The captaincy of the Ryder Cup is such a big deal. Particularly when you think about Tiger at the Presidents Cup, they’re not the same though. The timings, the pressure, the speed, it’s a much quicker event. I do not think in any way shape or form, a captain can be a player.”

It remains to be seen whether Bradley plays as well as captains the U.S. team at the Ryder Cup, but Harrington clearly believes the man from Vermont is worthy of a place on the side.
