Tyrrell Hatton finds himself six shots back of the leaders at the Irish Open as he continued to impress ahead of the Ryder Cup in a few weeks’ time.
Hatton is one of the key players for Team Europe as Luke Donald’s men look to win on away soil and make it two in a row under this particular captain.
With Hatton always a fan of promoting the DP World Tour when he can – despite his move to LIV Golf – it was no surprise to see him tee it up at the K Club this week.
Indeed, it’s looking like a very smart decision as well.

After two rounds, Hatton finds himself at four under par and while that is six back of surprise leader Joakim Lagergren, he’s only a couple back of the chasing pack behind the Swede.
Interestingly, it is another solid performance in the latter months of the year for Hatton and speaking to the media after his second round of 68, the Englishman addressed suggestions he plays better in late summer.

Tyrrell Hatton says whether he’s trying harder at the Irish Open
Tyrrell Hatton is one of the cornerstones of the DP World Tour in modern golf and you have to give him credit for keeping on turning up despite the riches he’s got from LIV.
Now, after shooting consecutive rounds of under par, Hatton had it put to him that he might actually revel in the later months of the year.
However, according to the man himself, it’s not by design.
“I don’t know. I don’t try any harder or whatever, I guess, September and October being good months for me. I’d love to give myself a chance to win this tournament,” Hatton admitted.
“Similar to Dubai, I think, it’s one of those iconic events for the DP World Tour, so many amazing past champions. It would be great to give myself a chance and hopefully be able to do that.”
Quizzed specifically on his second round 68, Hatton suggested that he is more than happy with how things panned out.
“Ended up being a pretty good day,” he continued. “It was a little bit scruffy early on. Not used to the early starts, I guess. Yeah, it took me a while to get going. Holed a nice par putt on 17, and then from there, I had a nice sort of burst of birdies. That was key to today’s round.
“Yeah, they give you good opportunities. I think yesterday I played them in 1-under, which I guess you probably lose shots to the field doing that. So it’s nice to play them better today. Hopefully I can play them well over the weekend.”

Tyrrell Hatton’s form in September and October
There is definitely something about Tyrrell Hatton when it comes to these events that go towards the Autumn on the DP World Tour.
As we’re seeing right before our eyes at the K Club, Hatton is producing the goods and showing everyone just how good he is.
However, it’s no fluke.
Back in 2024, Hatton’s form from September onwards was exceptional as he played in five DP World Tour events and finished inside the top 20 every time, including a win at the Alfred Dunhill Links.
| British Masters | T18 |
| Spanish Open | T10 |
| Alfred Dunhill Links | 1 |
| Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship | 2 |
| DP World Tour Championship | 6 |
With Hatton considered a key player for Luke Donald and Europe, him once again showing he means business at this stage of the season can only be a massive boost.
