Tyrrell Hatton and Jon Rahm made light work of their Ryder Cup foursomes match against American duo Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas.
Hatton and his European teammate Rahm actually got off to a slow start, with DeChambeau seemingly in fine form on day one of the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.
However, the LIV golfer and his partner, Thomas, struggled after the first half dozen holes, as the European duo put their foot down on the throttle.
In fact, Hatton and Rahm were so good that they actually kept the crowd at Bethpage really quiet.
But what did the Englishman make of the New York fans and the atmosphere that they created, or lack thereof?
Tyrrell Hatton comments on the Bethpage atmosphere on day one of the Ryder Cup
Hatton was extremely solid under pressure at Bethpage, and he and Rahm were five-under par through 15 holes as they romped to a 4&3 victory over the beleaguered DeChambeau and Thomas.

The atmosphere seemed to be fairly muted on day one of the Ryder Cup.
Hatton spoke to reporters after his win and responded when asked what he thought of noise created by the New York fans.
He said: “Really happy with how we dug in. We knew it was going to be a difficult start. Obviously the atmosphere was pretty intense but it was good fun, and we’re really happy to win our point this morning.“
In fairness, the New York fans were a lot quieter than many expected.
However, that could all change this afternoon following a few hours of beverage consumption before the four-ball matches!
Bethpage atmosphere a huge let down on day one of the Ryder Cup
We all know how vociferous the New York fans can be.
However, the Bethpage Black crowds seemed to be rather muted on Friday.
It’s fair to say that the sensational golf performed by the Europeans played a huge part in that.
The American fans simply didn’t have too much to get excited about aside from Bryson DeChambeau’s birdie putt on the very first hole.
Hatton and Rahm did their bit to quiet down the New York fans, as did every other European player in action on day one of the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.
And they will all be hoping to do the same during the four-ball session on Friday afternoon.
