Tyrrell Hatton is among the golfers to make it through to the weekend at the US Open this weekend after carding a one-over in his second round.

The Englishman had an up and down round really but in the end, did enough to safely get through to the weekend and not completely out of contention either.

Hatton, as we know, moved to LIV Golf for big money earlier in the year but he is still playing the big tournaments and he showed why he’s one of the world’s best at Pinehurst.

Of course, Hatton is also famed for his outbursts on the course.

The Ryder Cup winner is not afraid to let his mouth run amok when things aren’t going to plan and over the first two days at the US Open, we’ve seen more than one example of this.

But Hatton, in a jovial mood after his round today, made light of the situation and invited the press to guess just how much he’d been fined over the years.

Tyrrell Hatton shares how much he’s been fined for playing golf over the years

Speaking to the press, Hatton was questioned on if he knew how much he’d been fined for his outbursts over the years.

And Hatton responded in kind, taking it well.

“I think you’d actually be shocked,” Hatton said.

“Because you’re thinking it’s ridiculous amounts. Now don’t get me wrong it’s still a lot of money but it’s nowhere near…give me your best guess.

When a reporter suggested $100,000, Hatton admitted that it’s nowhere near that amount.

“You are nowhere near. I think even with the DP World Tour, I’ve not even reached double digits. So it’s still quite a bit of money but it’s nowhere near where you were saying.”

Hatton’s outbursts are marmite

Some golf fans love watching Hatton and love how he resonates with the average golfer in terms of getting annoyed at things.

On the other hand, some feel he brings a bit of unprofessionalism to the table and he should be reprimanded further.

However, there’s no question he is entertaining in some way and to be fair to Hatton, he took this line of questioning well.

Whether or not he has it in him to finally win a major, remains to be seen.

But he’s not out of contention just yet and could well end up firmly in the mix come Sunday.
