Tyrrell Hatton is one of the game’s great characters.
And he was in a colourful mood once again during the first day of The Masters at the magnificent Augusta National on Thursday.
Tyrrell Hatton carded a three-under par 69 on the opening day of The Masters – a score that saw him tucked safely inside the top 10.
The 33-year-old Englishman is like marmite – you either love him or hate him.

Tyrrell Hatton has been very outspoken about how difficult Augusta National is, by suggesting that it’s not as wide open as some people may think.

He could have been on for a really low round on Thursday, only for a late bogey on 17 to derail his progress.
And there is one change made by Augusta National that Hatton is really unhappy about.
Tyrrell Hatton makes candid admission about change made by Augusta National
The hot-headed Englishman has a history of losing his cool out on the golf course.
He looked extremely perturbed on numerous occasions during his first round at Augusta on Thursday.
And he found one hole in particualr really hard to navigate.
Hatton said:
“Do I like any golf course? (Laughter.) It’s just so hard. It’s like, you love being here and it’s very special, but at any moment you can just hit a shot and it just does your head in. I just need to keep hitting perfect shots.
He was then asked what made the 15th hole so difficult on Thursday:
“Well, I mean, the wedge shot is so hard. I think over the years, as well, that green has got firmer and firmer. I really wish they hadn’t lengthened it. I don’t think there’s probably any of us that stand here now that says when the guys are hitting 8-irons in on Sunday when the greens are firm and you’ve got to hit a perfect 8-iron to even hold the green that that’s not exciting. I wish it was more that way.

“Jordan (Spieth) hit — I think he hit 5-iron in today, which okay, you’re like, right, he’s hitting an iron, but he’s landed it short of the pin on the green and if it goes two yards further it’s off the back. He’s hit an amazing shot, but it’s just holding the green to the front pin. When you move that pin over on the left, it’s going to be near impossible to hold the green because if we don’t have any rain, it’s going to keep getting firmer.“
Worst score on the 15th hole at Augusta in The Masters
Sergio Garcia won The Masters in 2017, but his defence in 2018 was one to forget.
The Spaniard racked up a horrendous 13 on the 15th hole, after hitting numerous balls into the water short of the green.
Unsurprisingly, he went on to comfortably miss the cut.
Whilst we may not see a 13 on the 15th at Augusta National during Masters week this year, there will undoubtedly be plenty of big numbers on the par 5.
