The DP World Tour season drew to dramatic conclusion over the weekend as Rory McIlroy won the DP World Tour Championship and sealed a third straight Race to Dubai title.
McIlroy managed to edge out Rasmus Hojgaard down the stretch to finish a turbulent 2024 in style.
For McIlroy, it capped off a year of ups and downs where he once again showed remarkable consistency but ultimately came up short in the majors.
McIlroy is, as we know, the leading man on the DP World Tour but one player and good friend who isn’t far behind him is Tommy Fleetwood.

Fleetwood secured another top ten finish himself by coming home in seventh in the Race to Dubai stakes.
The Southport native is himself chasing a major win, while Fleetwood has still yet to register a win on the PGA Tour despite his obvious brilliance.
Despite not getting the wins he wants, Fleetwood remains a class act though and he’s sent a more than kind message following the end of the season.

Taking to social media platform X to share his thoughts on the season finale, Fleetwood thanked the usual family members and sponsors in his post.
However, he also reserved some kind words for McIlroy as he thanks the Northern Irishman for setting the bar.
2025 can be a big year for Tommy Fleetwood and Rory McIlroy
Both of these players probably have different goals going into 2025 but for the pair, success can be had.
For McIlroy, winning that fifth major and particularly winning at Augusta will once again be high on his agenda.
Fleetwood, meanwhile, will be desperate to get the monkey off his back in terms of winning on the PGA Tour and he too will fancy himself in the majors if it clicks.
Of course, there’s also the Ryder Cup for them both to look forward to and Fleetwood and McIlroy are more or less guaranteed to be part of Luke Donald’s twelve.
2025, then, could well be a big year for both Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood.
