The question of whether it is harder to win on LIV Golf or the DP World Tour has been a long-running debate for quite some time now.
Tom McKibbin left the DP World Tour to join up with LIV Golf before the start of the 2025 season.
McKibbin made the move to LIV Golf against advice from Rory McIlroy, but in fairness to him, he does seem to be loving life on the Saudi-backed golf league.
The reigning Masters champion suggested he didn’t understand what the benefits of joining LIV would be for his fellow countryman.
McKibbin responded to the comments from McIlroy by saying that he had a good gut feeling about LIV from the start.
The 22-year-old Northern Irishman is still waiting for his first win on LIV.
He does have one DP World Tour win to his name, after he reigned victorious at The Porsche European Open back in June 2023.
Tom McKibbin responds when asked if it’s harder to win on LIV or the DP World Tour
McKibbin is in a good position to pass judgement on which tour is harder to win on, considering the fact that he has played on both this season.

Ahead of LIV Golf London, McKibbin was asked what tour he believes is harder to get a victory on, out of LIV Golf and The DP World Tour.
“They’re a lot different,“ McKibbin explained. “It’s so hard to say, it’s hard to win anywhere you play. The standard everywhere is very good. I think the thing over here that is hard is one less day. You really have to get off to a good start in the first round. If you don’t quite have it the first day, there’s a lot of ground to make up in the last two.
“Then obviously the fields are strong here. There are some incredible players, some major champions.
“Then for me personally, I feel like the golf courses have been a little harder. Overall, the main thing for me that I’ve found is trying to get off to a good start so you don’t have to chase as much the last couple of days.
“I mean, I haven’t been able to win on the European Tour since then, so it’s hard to win anywhere.”
Tom McKibbin’s result on LIV in 2025
McKibbin has actually played in five events on The DP World Tour this season, with his best finish a tie for third at The Porsche Singapore Classic back in March.
Perhaps the Northern Irishman has a point about the difficulty of winning on LIV.
He is yet to record a top-3 finish on the Saudi-backed golf league.
| LIV Results | McKibbin’s totals |
| Events played | 10 |
| Wins | 0 |
| Top-3s | 0 |
| Top-5s | 2 |
| Top-10s | 4 |
McKibbin has a great future ahead of him in the game, regardless of whether he ends up playing on LIV or The DP World Tour.
The 22-year-old is a huge talent and if he continues to apply himself properly off the golf course, it will most likely only be a matter of time before he starts racking up the wins on a consistent basis.
