It is impossible to argue with anyone who believes that Scottie Scheffler is enjoying the kind of dominance the golfing world has not seen in the men’s game since Tiger Woods was at the peak of the powers.

While the Hero World Challenge may not be the most prestigious title from Scottie Scheffler‘s year, it most definitely did act as a reminder of just how good the world number one can be. Scheffler won by six shots in the Bahamas to make it nine victories worldwide in 2024.

It has been a rapid rise for Scheffler when you consider that he had not won on the PGA Tour before being included on the USA team for the 2021 Ryder Cup. But it also seems remarkable because it probably seems fair to say that you would not find Scheffler’s golf swing in many textbooks.

Of course, much has been said about Scheffler’s foot movement. It is far from conventional, but he most definitely makes it work for him.

Tiger Woods issues his verdict on Scottie Scheffler’s golf swing

Scheffler is well on his way to establishing himself as one of the game’s all-time greats. But obviously, the man anyone in this era is looking to catch is Tiger Woods.

Woods is the host of the Hero World Challenge. And speaking on Golf Channel during the final round at Albany, the 15-time major champion gave his view of Scheffler’s swing.

“With his consistency each and every week he doesn’t really do anything really wrong. You see his footwork and all these different things, these contortions that he gets into. But if you stand behind him and watch the ball flight it is very tight either way, either left to right or right to left and he moves it up and down easily either way,” he said.

“He has driven it well all year. It’s very tight and consistent. His iron game is probably the best on tour. He hits it pin high whenever he chooses to be pin high.”

How Scheffler is in a league of his own with his full swing

There is just no obvious weakness in Scheffler’s game when it comes to tee to green. His putting has not been as impressive, but it is still good enough to enable Scheffler to win nine times in 2024 alone.

He is actually inside the top 20 on the PGA Tour for all strokes gained categories from tee to green. But he is nearly without peer when it comes to how he performs with a full swing.

It ultimately does not appear to matter where Scheffler’s feet are heading when he is launching another dart right at the pin to set up yet another birdie.
