The PGA of America have informed Tiger Woods of when they would like him to make a decision on the Ryder Cup captaincy by, as they prepare for the 2027 event at Adare Manor.
According to a report from the Associated Press, Tiger Woods is currently the only candidate for the Ryder Cup captaincy as Team USA set their sights on winning in Europe for the first time since 1993.
If Tiger Woods plays in The Masters this year, will he make the cut or miss the cut?
Woods turned down the captaincy ahead of the 2025 event at Bethpage Black. He has since been appointed as the chairman of the Future Competition Committee on the PGA Tour.
The PGA of America tell Tiger Woods when they want a Ryder Cup decision by
Woods claimed he had heard nothing about the Ryder Cup role while at the Hero World Challenge in December. But it seems that he has been given a soft deadline for when he needs to make a decision by.

The report from the Associated Press suggests that, while it is not an ultimatum, Woods has been told by the PGA of America that they would like to know whether he will be the Ryder Cup captain by The Masters this year.
The PGA of America must avoid repeating the same first mistake they made before the 2025 Ryder Cup
While the report suggests that the PGA of America are prioritising Woods, you would like to think that they will have other options on their radar in case the 50-year-old decides that he cannot commit.
There is a danger that the PGA of America repeat one of the first mistakes they made in the buildup to Bethpage.
Understandably, they wanted to give Woods every chance to say yes to the role for New York. However, when he declined, they had to pivot quickly and spring a surprise with Keegan Bradley.
Who is the biggest winner if Tiger Woods never existed?
Bradley’s appointment was announced in July 2024. It was a decision that came from nowhere, with Bradley among those who seemed truly shocked.
If Woods says no in April, the PGA of America cannot afford to spend three months deciding on who they want instead.
Some could point to Europe still awaiting to confirm their next captain too. But if it is not Luke Donald, you would imagine that their machine will immediately get behind Francesco Molinari.
There is plenty of continuity in that choice with the Italian a vice-captain last year.
Meanwhile, all bets will be off once again if Woods declines for a second time.
