A three-time major winner has confirmed that he received a penalty after the second round of the US Senior Open at Newport Country Club.
Hiroyuki Fujita leads the way on eleven under after carding a four-under 66 on day two. Richard Green is one shot back on ten under, and Steve Stricker holds a tie for third with Richard Bland.
Vijay Singh and Lee Westwood are way back on three under and face work to do over the weekend.
Another name at the same number is Padraig Harrington, and the Irishman shared some very interesting information after the conclusion of his round on Friday.
Padraig Harrington penalised after day two of the US Senior Open

After carding a promising four under 66 on Thursday, Harrington couldn’t quite replicate his form during his second 18 holes.
A one-over-par 71 means the three-time major winner is now in a tie for 16th.
The 52-year-old’s round turned sour during a four-hole stretch on the front nine with two quickfire bogeys compounded by a double on the ninth.
However, Harrington, after his round, confirmed his day was capped off further on the 411-yard par four after dropping the ball incorrectly.
“Shot 71 for 1 over,” Harrington wrote on X. “Tied 16th at 3 under, 8 behind. The complete opposite of yesterday struck the ball well but scored very poorly.
“The day was capped off with a retrospective penalty for dropping my ball on the ninth fairway from too high above my knee.”

Harrington has undoubtedly enjoyed himself since moving into the senior game.
The Irishman already has one major under his belt, coming during the 2022 edition of the US Senior Open, edging out Steve Stricker by one shot.
Furthermore, the 52-year-old also has five regular Champions Tour victories and two Charles Schwab Cup playoff wins.
Clearly, Harrington is nowhere near ready to hang up his clubs just yet after regularly competing on the senior tour, something Rory McIlroy reiterated about the three-time major winner.
This week, however, the Irishman will have to bounce back spectacularly on Saturday if he’s to chase down the leaders in Newport.
