Aaron Rai has become the latest Englishman to win a PGA Tour event as he followed in the footsteps of some of the all-time greats at the Wyndham Championship.
Rai’s, encouraged by Billy Horschel down the last, carded brilliant final round of six-under par to secure him his first victory on the PGA and a first win since 2020 overall.
The Englishman is still only 29, which in golfing terms is very much young.
Rai has followed some of the great English names of the game like Sir Nick Faldo, Lee Westwood, Matt Fitzpatrick and more by winning on the PGA.
English players who could win on the PGA Tour following Aaron Rai’s success
Of course, the next step will be to follow the likes of Faldo and Fitzpatrick in winning a major, something Rai looks more than capable of doing.
Naturally, Rai’s win will be a big inspiration for some more of the English players out on the different tours right now.
And with that, we’ve looked at THREE players from England who could follow in Rai’s footsteps and win on the PGA Tour very soon.
Tommy Fleetwood
It sounds pretty remarkable that we look at future English winners on the PGA Tour and have to include Tommy Fleetwood.
But alas, that’s where we are, with Fleetwood still yet to register a win on the PGA after a number of near misses.
A Ryder Cup winner, an Olympic silver medallist – despite Fleetwood admitting he wasn’t completely happy with his game in Paris – and a multiple time winner on the DP World Tour make it almost certain that Fleetwood will get a win at some point.
Like with Aaron Rai, it’s felt a question of when and not if for Fleetwood.
Still, he’ll need to get it over the line and once he gets one, you feel more will follow.

Alex Fitzpatrick
The younger brother of US Open winner Matt, Alex Fitzpatrick will very much hope to follow in his brother’s footsteps and
The 25-year-old is starting to make a name for himself in Europe and seems to be featuring more prominently in some of the DP World Tour events.
Fitzpatrick picked up his first win on the Challenge Tour in 2023 and he was unlucky to finish second not long after that in the ISPS Handa World Invitational.
Furthermore, he finished a very respectable 17th at the Open in Liverpool that same year.
It seems a matter of time before he bursts into life and starts winning more and eventually earning his PGA Tour card. From there, he’ll want to follow Matt in winning ASAP.

Kris Kim
Looking slightly longer term here, but English teenage sensation Kris Kim is someone who the world already knows about.
Kim has already made his PGA debut this year playing at the Byron Nelson and remarkably, he made the cut, becoming the youngest player to ever make a cut on a PGA Tour event.
Kim will also be part of the field that tees it up at the British Masters at the end of the month and he’ll be looking for a big performance on home soil.
The 16-year-old’s time will surely come in the future and if he can carry on as many predict, England has a future golf star on its hands.
