The PGA Tour do seem to be making a push to modernise things in the game of golf and after the success of the TGL, they’re now being encouraged to go one step further.
The TGL is very much still in its infancy as a product but on the whole, the feel of the event has been good and as a viewing experience, it has been well received by the majority.
However, while TGL is a step in the right direction for the PGA Tour, there’s still a feeling that more that more can be done to attract fresh viewers to the game.
With the Creator Classic one idea that has been well received, the TOUR have shown they’re willing to be flexible in terms of what they try.
And according to golf journalist Dan Rapaport, the time has come for the PGA Tour to follow in the NBA’s footsteps.

PGA Tour told to hold all-star event with multiple skills challenges
Any followers of American sports will know that the NBA All-star weekend is one of the first dates on the calendar many fans look for.
Yes, the recent NBA event wasn’t well received by fans, with viewership figures down 13% and the 2025 event the second-least All-Star NBA weekend in history.
However, according to Dan Rapaport, the blueprint is there for the PGA Tour to follow and the time has come, in his opinion, to introduce such an event.
Taking to social media to share his thoughts on the potential for a ‘Golf All-Star’ event, Rapaport suggested a number of skills tests within a televised bonanza.
A LIV Golf v PGA Tour All-Star weekend could appeal
The idea of doing an All-Star weekend or singular event is something a lot of golf fans would probably tune in to see, especially if it involved less serious challenges than just playing golf.
However, while the idea of getting the best PGA players to compete is a good one, surely the idea of introducing a team element of PGA v LIV Golf would work well here as well?
The idea of seeing Rory McIlroy come up against Bryson DeChambeau in a long drive competition, or Scottie Scheffler come up against Phil Mickelson in a short-game challenge would instantly attract viewers.
With talks ongoing over a PGA and LIV deal, this is something that could be factored in down the line and, in turn, bring more eyes to the game.
