The Genesis Invitational will not be taking place at the Riviera this year after wildfires ripped through Los Angeles and golf fans think they have the perfect replacement course.

The tragic events over in Pacific Palisades have shocked the world and with the beautiful Riviera Golf Club within the vicinity, the Tiger Woods hosted Genesis Invitational has been in doubt.

Confirmation has now been given that the tournament will indeed be moved, although it remains to be seen just where the event will end up being hold.

Naturally, somewhere in the LA or California state would be ideal and not put people too much out of place from their original plans.

As we know, the west coast has some stunning golf courses and a big decision needs to be reached on what can do the Riviera justice.

Thankfully, there are plenty of options and according to golf fans online, one course stands out.

Golf fans call for Cypress Point to host the Genesis Invitational

While the iconic Pebble Beach will play host to the AT&T in just under 10 days’ time, golf fans are calling for another one of the world’s most iconic courses along the same stretch to be used for the Genesis.

Cypress Point is regarded as one of the most spectacular courses in the world due to its views and tough holes.

Indeed, Golf Digest named Cypress Point as the most beautiful golf course in the world and over on X, golf fans have been calling for the Genesis to make the call and hold the event on the coast.

One fan explained the number of reasons behind Cypress Point being the one.

While @SSMuskrat called for a throwback to the Covid days with no fans.

“Do Cypress Point Covid style. No fans no bleachers or tents. Just great golfers on a great course on tv for the world to see.”

Another fan suggested a break, but admitted Cypress Point would be their choice.

“I’d honestly rather have a week break rather than back to back Phoenix Opens. It will be interesting to see what happens though. Cypress Point would be my ideal venue but hard to see that happening”

While @Roseandfriends also called on Cypress Point to play host.

“Cypress Point to the rescue?!?”

The calls for Cypress continued, with @TheSportsFanUSA also saying the TOUR should go for it.

“F it put the Genesis at Cypress Point”

While @PGALouis also named Cypress Point as their choice, although there was also a mention Pebble Beach as well.

“The Genesis won’t be at Riviera this year Cypress Point or Pebble Beach anyone?”

The lowest ever score recorded at Cypress Point

While Cypress Point hasn’t been part of the PGA Tour’s rotation for some time, it remains one of the most picturesque courses in the world and has plenty of history as well.

In terms of the best score ever around the course, well, that record is shared by the legendary Ben Hogan and Jim Langley.

Both players managed to card a quite remarkable round of 63, which given the conditions usually at the course, is very impressive.
