The Masters Tournament is the first event of the 2025 season in which all the best players in the world will compete against each other.
While that’s unfortunate for the game of golf, it has perhaps added even more interest to the four major championships.
The reality is that most golf fans don’t pay much attention to LIV throughout the year, and the majors provide the likes of Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka the chance to remind everyone how great they are.
Two-time US Open champion Curtis Strange believes one LIV star has one particular “advantage” towards doing exactly that at Augusta National.

Curits Strange says Rory McIlroy and LIV Golfer have same ‘advantage’ at the Masters
Rory McIlroy is widely regarded as one of the best, if not the best, drivers of a golf ball in the history of the sport.
Not only does the 35-year-old get almost as much distance as anyone else, his accuracy and consistency are what separates him from other big hitters.
Another player in that conversation is Bryson DeChambeau, who has proven to overpower some of the best golf courses on the planet.
One he hasn’t yet conquered is Augusta National, although Strange thinks he and McIlroy might be able to.
He said in an interview hosted by ESPN: “Other than last year, the first round, we really haven’t heard much from him after his great amateur showing there.
“I guess whatever Bryson does doesn’t surprise me because he does have this wonderful ability. He has all the length in the world. If he has a good driving week, it’s hard to beat somebody that hits it that far.
We always talk about Augusta being a second-shot golf course. Well, what makes it a second-shot golf course easier? It’s driving it long and straight. He, Rory [McIlroy], and a couple of other big hitters have that advantage.”

Andy North says Bryson DeChambeau can win the Masters by ‘four or five shots’
Three-time PGA Tour winner Andy North also thinks DeChambeau has what it takes to succeed at the Masters Tournament.
Despite his unconving record at Augusta, North says he can imagine DeChambeau winning by “four or five shots” if he’s on form.
“I think Bryson is always a threat. With his length and strength… I think he went through a couple of years and played exceptionally well, but he was in kind of a scientist stage. He was experimenting, trying to figure out what the best thing to do, and he gained all the weight, then he lost the weight.
“I think he’s now kind of figured out where he wants to be. He’s almost reinvented himself in some ways. But he definitely has the talent and the game to do really, really well at Augusta. It wouldn’t shock me a bit if he went around there and won by four or five shots.

Just like the US Open in 2024, we are going to see a McIlroy and DeChambeau head to head and for the golfing fans, it’s the ideal scenario.
“But at the same time, he hasn’t had a great record there over the years, and I think that can change. I think he’s a different person than he was three or four years ago, and I think he really is comfortable in his own skin now, and I don’t think he probably was two or three years ago.”
