There has been a lot of talk in recent years about what should be banned on the PGA Tour.

One of the most significant changes of the last decade came in 2016 with players banned from anchoring their putter to their body. Meanwhile, changes to the golf ball will start to take effect from 2028.

Lucas Glover caused a stir earlier this season by calling for aimpoint to be banned. Many PGA Tour players use the practice of reading the greens by feeling the break in their feet.

Glover’s argument was that the process takes too long and leads to players stepping all around the hole – and he claimed that there is little indication that aimpoint actually leads to success. However, some hit back immediately, with Collin Morikawa joking that long putters – such as the one used by Glover – should be banned (via Golf Monthly).

Max Homa shares the rule change he would make on the PGA Tour

You will certainly see some argue that the putter should be the shortest club in the bag.

But it is something else that Max Homa would like to see outlawed from the PGA Tour. Speaking to Golf Digest, Homa was asked to name one rule change he would like to see.

“No metal spikes, at least in professional golf, they are the worst,” he replied.

Why would metal spikes be banned?

It does appear that most players do steer clear of metal spikes these days.

Ultimately, they can cause a lot more damage to courses, particularly on the greens, than softer spikes. They can often rough up the putting surfaces just from having players walking on them and going through their routines before they hit a putt.

The potential issues do not stop there, with metal spikes obviously much more likely to leave a mark on the facilities around a golf course.

So there may not be too many players who disagree with Homa’s take.

Homa names the most stylish player on the PGA Tour

Interestingly, Homa is one of those who does use aimpoint to read greens. So he potentially feels that he is not helped by those who use metal spikes on the greens.

Elsewhere, he was asked to name the most stylish player out on tour, and he picked Min Woo Lee. Like Homa, the Australian wears Lululemon clothing, so it is probably not particularly surprising that he deemed him to be the most stylish.

But Lee is definitely one of the most popular players on tour. He is extremely likeable, while he plays the game in a manner which fans can certainly get behind.

He is one of the longest hitters off the tee on tour, and he just guarantees entertainment. So Lee stands out no matter how Homa interpreted style.
