Team USA need to make some big changes ahead of the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in Ireland, but they already have a secret weapon amongst their ranks.
The European team were far superior to the Americans during the first two days of action at the Ryder Cup last week.
In fact, the foursomes and four-ball matches were so one-sided that the United States still lost at Bethpage Black, despite the fact that they won the singles session by a score of 8.5-3.5.
Many mistakes were made by Keegan Bradley and his vice-captains, not least regarding some of the pairing selections.
Now a new direction is required, with Stewart Cink throwing his hat into the mix for the US Ryder Cup captaincy.
However, the main thing will be for all of America’s big stars to actually show up and be counted at Adare Manor in 2027.
Xander Schauffele currently holds the course record at the 2027 Ryder Cup venue
Two-time major champion Xander Schauffele has experienced an incredibly difficult 2025 season on the PGA Tour.
He was recovering from injury during the early part of the season and didn’t return to action until March.

Although he didn’t miss a cut all season long, he was nowhere near his best and failed to win an event as well as recording only three top-10 finishes.
However, he did perform surprisingly well at the Ryder Cup last week.
And the American should be a very good omen for his team at Adare Manor in 2027, if he makes the side, of course.
Schauffele holds the course record at the so-called ‘Augusta of Ireland’.
He shot rounds of 70 and 64 to finish at 10-under par in the JP McManus Pro-Am back in 2022.
Schauffele won the tournament and holds the course record at Adare Manor. That should give him huge confidence ahead of the next instalment of the Ryder Cup at the same course in just under two years’ time.
Xander Schauffele’s Ryder Cup record
Schauffele has one of the better Ryder Cup records out of the modern-day group of players.
Despite having shown minimal form heading into Bethpage Black last week, he ended the week having won 75% of the points available to him.
| Results | Schauffele’s totals |
| Matches played | 12 |
| Wins | 7 |
| Losses | 5 |
| Halves | 0 |
| Total points | 7 |
With Schauffele’s suitability to Adare Manor and hopefully him returning to form over the next two years, the United States should be in a much stronger position ahead of the 2027 Ryder Cup.
Now the onus is very much on Schauffele to work hard on his game and bring his best stuff to Ireland in 2027.
