Scottie Scheffler will be well on his way to cementing himself as an all-time great should he manage to replicate the unbelievable 2024 season he enjoyed in 2025.
Of course, Scottie Scheffler won nine times worldwide in 2024. He won his second Masters title, while he also became the first player to retain the Players Championship. And he would clinch a gold medal at the Paris Olympics after Scheffler produced an astounding final round at Le Golf National.
Byeong Hun An attracted some criticism for suggesting that Scheffler’s season could be put alongside Tiger Woods’ better years. But there is no doubt at all that the 28-year-old had the best year since Woods was knocked off top spot in the world golf rankings.
What was particularly remarkable about Scheffler’s game was how well-rounded he proved to be. He was inside the top 17 for every strokes gained category except putting on the PGA Tour in 2024. That included being second off the tee.
The Scottie Scheffler driving statistic he will struggle to repeat in 2025
He averaged over 303 yards with the driver last year. Meanwhile, he was 23rd for driving accuracy, which clearly proved to be a lethal combination. So the question now is whether he can sustain that into 2025.
Smylie Kaufman admitted that he has some doubts that Scheffler can be quite as good in the coming months, simply because of how unbelievably impressive he was in 2024. Speaking on The Smylie Show with his co-host Charlie Hulme, Kaufman suggested that it is going to take something special for Scheffler to be as strong with the driver in hand.

“The thing that you touched on there that I think is the most likely explanation if he doesn’t replicate last season is another category that he’s been either the best in the game or close to the best in the game has sort sort of slight decline. I don’t think the putting goes back to being broken, but I think it’s so hard to sustain singular greatness in a specific skill or other players catch up to you,” Hulme said.
“I think his driver accuracy, if there was one spot that I could point to in just overall statistics and percentages, he hit about 66 percent of his fairways this year – that is just absurd. So when you hit it as long as he does and as straight as he did, he’s the best iron player in the world, who’s going to beat him? So that would be the thing as far as if you just point to one stat,” Kaufman replied.
“And granted too, his short game was unbelievable, just his overall chipping around the greens. The amount of times that he would chip in, I just look back at Hilton Head, I believe it’s the second hole, chips in from behind the green on Sunday, you’re like, okay. Just the ones he’d have to get up and down, he’d get up and down.”
What the golfing world will learn about Scheffler in 2025
Much has been said about Scheffler’s technique with his golf swing. You are never likely to find his footwork in a textbook. So it is already incredibly remarkable that he has been able to make it work for himself.
In truth, 2025 is likely to be a year where the golfing world learns whether there is more to come from Scheffler or whether 2024 was as good as it is likely to get.
Obviously, he is still on his way to enjoying a phenomenal career, no matter what happens next. But there is still a very large question mark over where exactly his ceiling is going to prove to be.
