PGA Tour star Max Homa has revealed that a moment alongside Matt Fitzpatrick is the most nervous he’s ever felt in golf.
Homa, one of the more popular members on the tour, has enjoyed a stellar rise in the last few years and is now firmly seen as one of the top stars on the tour.
Of course, his form led him to being selected for Team USA in last year’s Ryder Cup in Rome. In the end, Homa was on the losing side but he did play his own part in at least extending the tournament.
Homa holed a six-footer against Matt Fitzpatrick under the most intense of pressure. And speaking on the Bob Does Sports YouTube channel, Homa has revealed that very moment was the most nervous he’s ever felt on a golf course.
Max Homa says Ryder Cup putt was his most nervous moment on a golf course
Speaking about the putt and answering the question direct about the time he’s felt most nervous, Homa was quick to point out the putt against Fitzpatrick.
“18th hole putt against Matt [Fitzpatrick] at the Ryder Cup. That putt, I don’t even think I can do it justice. My left leg was going like this [shaking]. I’ve watched it multiple times to see if I could see that and couldn’t believe it looked fine on camera,” Homa said.

Fine margins make heroes in golf
And this was one of those moments. Had Fitzpatrick rolled his own putt in, then Homa’s moment wouldn’t even have got the chance to happen. Europe would have won there and then and Fitzy would have been the hero.
However, Homa had his chance and he took it with aplomb. Yes, it was a miserable time in Rome overall for the USA team. But Homa had his moment and it’s something he can cling on to forever.
Homa is bound to be on the team in 2025 at Bethpage and you can bet your bottom dollar he plays an important role.
His putt against Fitzpatrick showed he has the nerve to compete and the USA will be counting on him to produce in New York.
