The PGA Tour rocked the golfing world by allowing Brooks Koepka to return for the 2026 season.
The top names on the PGA Tour seem happy with the decision. Rory McIlroy said he’d gladly have Koepka back, as did Xander Schauffele and Justin Thomas, but not everyone is happy.
PGA Tour officials were on the receiving end of complaints from some players at the Sony Open when the news broke. It’s getting increasingly harder to keep PGA Tour cards as the number of fully exempt players has been reduced to 100, so with the increased competition, players further down the roster are concerned for their future on the tour.
The PGA Tour isn’t allowing Koepka back unpunished. He now has to make a $5 million charitable contribution to a tour-approved organisation, and he will also lose access to 2026 FedEx Cup bonus money, sponsor exemptions to the $20 million signature events, and any equity grants in the PGA Tour for five years.
Those terms have also been offered to Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, and Cameron Smith. But no other LIV players will receive that option. It’s been reserved for the biggest names only.
For the numerous players who have been suspended from the PGA Tour for their participation in LIV events, that must be frustrating. And one player in particular spoke out once the Koepka news was announced.
Should Bryson DeChambeau leave LIV Golf in 2026?
Wesley Bryan reacts to Brooks Koepka’s PGA Tour return
Wesley Bryan was suspended from the PGA Tour for his involvement in a YouTube event, “The Duels: Miami”. The event, sponsored by LIV Golf, saw six LIV pros paired with six YouTube content creators, including Bryan, in a nine-hole scramble.
PGA Tour members are bound by “conflicting event” and “media rights” rules, which Bryan was deemed to have broken by his participation in this video.
Bryan argued that these rules were intended for high-level professional tournaments rather than YouTube content creation, but the suspension still stands, leading the YouTuber to post the following to X after Koepka’s return was announced:
Which of these LIV Golf stars would you least like to see back on the PGA Tour?
“Proposition to the @PGATOUR. Returning Member Program:
“1) anyone who has won a major or the players in the last 5 years OR
“2) anyone who is suspended for playing in 9 hole scramble events
“*the 5,000,000 dollar charitable donation only applies to 1st category
“Thoughts?”
It’s a tongue-in-cheek response, but when it’s spelled out like that it does seem a little ridiculous that Bryan remains suspended from the PGA Tour. Meanwhile Koepka can jump ship completely, make millions with LIV, then come back at the drop of a hat.
When Wesley Bryan’s PGA Tour suspension could end
Bryan’s suspension from the PGA Tour was officially called indefinite, but historical precedent and point toward a potential return in April 2026.
The tour’s standard disciplinary policy for members who participate in LIV events is a one-year suspension, so Bryan would likely be able to apply for reinstatement around April 5, 2026, one year removed from The Duels.

Bryan remains on the suspension list and is not eligible for early-season events such as the Sony Open, and the “Returning Member Program” clearly doesn’t include a potential return for him, as he hasn’t won a major or The Players since 2022.
For now, he continues to compete in professional events that fall outside the PGA Tour’s jurisdiction, such as the Asian Tour and DP World Tour, while maintaining his focus on content creation for the Bryan Bros YouTube channel.
