Scottie Scheffler is the best golfer on the planet, by quite some margin as well.
And Sir Nick Faldo has opened up on his true feelings on Scheffler as a golfer.
Scheffler’s old putting problems returned to haunt him at The Scottish Open last week, but he’s still the favourite to win The Open Championship this week.
It was only last week when Scheffler shared his love for links golf, and he will undoubtedly contend at Royal Portrush.
The Dallas native has all of the tools required to succeed at The Open.

He can work his ball both ways and keep it under the wind with ease. In fact, the precision with which he plays makes him very similar to Faldo in his pomp.
However, the two golfers could not be more different when it comes down to one very specific thing.
Sir Nick Faldo explains what he finds ‘fascinating’ about Scottie Scheffler
Scheffler has got an incredibly unorthodox swing, and his unconventional footwork really is amazing to watch.
However, as is fairly common knowledge now, he has more control of his club-face than anyone else in the game.
That is the reason why he’s such a consistent ball striker, and his consistency is a by-product of that.
When speaking on the Sky Sports Golf podcast, Faldo responded when asked what he thought of Scheffler’s swing, and how he rates him as a golfer.

He said: “It is different. But he’s a fascinating golfer. Technically, it’s unbelievable.
“He’s world number one, and you would not teach his golf swing. Isn’t that ridiculous? I mean, with the feet moving and the arm rotation, the wrist and everything, but he has a gift of from here to here, understanding that the relationship between his hands and the club face is just brilliant.
“And that’s how he’s doing it. And he’s kind of riding the wave where everything is good. You’re thinking positively and all that sort of thing. So, you know, one day if it all goes wrong, what’s plan B? What did you suddenly work on? But we’re worried about that when that happens.”
Scottie Scheffler explained why he moves his feet so much in his swing
Scheffler’s footwork really is amazing to watch. His trail foot moves towards the target at impact, as his lead foot moves out of the way behind him.
And when speaking during a TaylorMade Golf YouTube instructional video back in 2024, Scheffler explained exactly why he implements that movement with his feet.
“It’s one of those things that has always been a move for me. If you look at my swings from when I was a little kid that’s kind of something I always did.
“What I’m trying to do to get power in my golf swing is load into my right side and then come off my right side and go into my left. So in order to get my weight from here to there, when I slide my foot, I make sure I get all of my weight through the ball.
“If the foot is going this way (towards the target), it’s kind of going with the shot.“
That actually makes perfect sense. After all, his feet aren’t actually moving throughout his swing.
Throughout his move, his legs and feet provide an incredibly solid base for him to swing the club around.
The motion with his feet begins just before impact.
Scheffler has an incredibly unusual swing, but that’s what makes golf so great isn’t it? There isn’t only one way to swing the golf club.
