One of the most remarkable things about how Scottie Scheffler plays is how unspectacular he seems to be when he is swinging a golf club.
Certainly, it is hard to imagine that Scottie Scheffler‘s golf swing appearing in a textbook on the best actions the game of golf has seen. Obviously, his footwork appears to be chaotic.
However, Scheffler is virtually perfect through impact. And with that, he has been able to become the best player on the planet, with the world number one winning nine times worldwide in 2024.
Scheffler so rarely makes mistakes, with the number of over par rounds for the 28-year-old in 2024 able to be counted on just two hands. Meanwhile, he barely finished outside the top 10 all year on the PGA Tour.
Si Woo Kim reveals what Scottie Scheffler is really like in practice rounds
Most of the PGA Tour has probably become frustrated facing off against Scheffler. And it seems that that frustration extends to the practice rounds, with Scheffler seemingly just as impressive away from the cameras.
Speaking on Skratch, Si Woo Kim shared what it is like to face Scheffler in a practice round.

“Yeah, I played Royal Oaks with Scottie, I did a couple of times. Yeah, I think [he’s always the best player in practice], he’s so good,” he said.
“Par threes I play with him at Royal Oaks, kind of like 195 yards, wind’s off the right, pin’s right corner, short is a bunker. Cut this to tap-in, oh my god, can’t beat this guy.”
How Tom Kim behaves in practice rounds also shared
Scheffler is not the only player Kim practices alongside. Of course, Kim has formed a notable partnership with Tom Kim over the last two Presidents Cups.
Few will forget their amazing performance to beat Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele on Saturday at Quail Hollow in 2022. Meanwhile, they thrashed Keegan Bradley and Wyndham Clark two years later at Royal Montreal.
Tom Kim has been the International team’s talisman over the last couple of events, with the way he inspires the crowd with his excitement.
There was a stage during the first session in Canada where it almost appeared a little forced, with Kim potentially trying to inspire a very flat Montreal crowd. However, Kim confirmed that his countryman is like that most of the time.
“Yes [he’s always excited], even when we’re playing practice rounds, he likes to compete. So we play a game every time. Yeah, he loves to compete,” he said.
Thankfully for the PGA Tour, they do have someone like Tom Kim. He certainly makes the game more interesting right now. And it was notable how well Kim suited the TGL format as he made his debut in the league this week.
