Scottie Scheffler was critical of one hole in particular at Caves Valley after day one of the BMW Championship.
Scheffler fired a superb opening round of four-under par 66 to get his week at the BMW Championship off to a fine start.
Caves Valley was incredibly difficult on day one, as the best players on the PGA Tour struggled with the sheer length of the golf course and the severely undulating greens.
However, the 29-year-old world number one made the golf course look far easier than it was.
Scheffler played alongside Rory McIlroy on Thursday at the BMW Championship, and the American outshone the Northern Irishman.
However, the world number one was clearly not entirely happy after his round.
Scottie Scheffler baffled by PGA Tour decision on day one of the BMW Championship
Scheffler’s round of 66 could have been even better, had he had a bit more luck during his round on Thursday.

For instance, he was incredibly unlucky to finish more than 20 feet away from the pin after a really good approach into the green on the 11th hole.
Scheffler was asked about his approach into the 11th green – one that landed near the pin and ended up nearly going in the water.
He said: “Well, typically around most places when you hit it right of the pin, it kind of stays somewhat around there, but for some reason they decided to put that pin right on a mound in the middle of the green there. Very interesting pin location, and I landed just behind it, and then it catches another slope. I stared at it for a while because I thought I hit a really good shot, and it almost went in the water, so I was just a little bit surprised at the result of the shot that I hit.“
That was a really interesting pin location selected by the PGA Tour.
That said, the 11th hole still averaged under par on day one, playing to an average of 3.8 throughout the first round.
Scottie Scheffler not a fan of another hole at Caves Valley either
Scheffler made an incredible up and down for par on the par three 17th hole during his opening round of 66.
He pulled his tee shot around 35 yards left of the pin, as he steered clear of the water on the right on the 238-yard hole.
The man from Dallas, Texas, was asked about his wayward shot on the par three 17th hole.
Scheffler said: “Yeah, I hit a shot into the grandstands. It’s a pretty tough hole; 240 into the wind with water. I still don’t fully understand that sometimes.
“But I played to the smart side, just pulled it a little bit and was able to get a drop there by the grandstand, and it was a nice up-and-down.“
Scheffler is clearly not a fan of long par threes, and the 17th at Caves Valley certainly fits into that category.
It played as the fourth hardest hole on the course at the BMW Championship on Thursday, and if you record four threes there this week, you will be making up some serious ground on the field.
