Scottie Scheffler failed to make it three in a row at The Players as he fell away from the leaders to finish in a tie for 20th place.
Scheffler still managed to finish at four under par for the week despite not playing his best golf but once more, it was another tournament to slip him by as he chases a first win of 2025.
Of course, Scheffler can be forgiven for not being at his very best just yet after he suffered a bizarre hand injury over the festive period.
However, despite not winning just yet, Scheffler has assessed his game and in the main, feels pretty happy.

Scottie Scheffler assess his current form after finishing T20 at The Players
Speaking to the press in the aftermath of his final round, Scheffler was questioned about the state of his game at the moment having come back from injury over Christmas.
And according to Scheffler, he’s not too far away despite the result.
“I feel very close. I think it was definitely challenging with the winds and getting the ball close to the hole.
“Definitely started hitting some better shots. Starting to feel more comfortable with my irons. The last two weeks I feel like I’ve definitely driven the ball better. Definitely some positives from this week. Yeah, looking forward to another prep week at home and then getting ready for Houston,” Scheffler said.
Pressed further on what he could take from the week in Florida, Scheffler doubled down on his opinion of getting closer to being back to near his best.
“I walk away from this week feeling close. I feel like there’s some stuff that I need to work on at home, but I feel very close.
“Overall I felt like I did some good things this week, felt like I could have done some other things better. But overall don’t feel far off by any means. Definitely excited to get home, get a little practice in and get ready for Houston.”
Phil Mickelson suggests Scottie Scheffler won’t win in 2025
The idea of Scottie Scheffler not getting into the winner’s circle in 2025 is an odd thought and you’d expect that at some point, he wins again.
However, not everyone feels that’s the case.
Phil Mickelson has claimed that Scheffler will not win before the Ryder Cup in September, which would mean the world number one going nearly a full year without a victory.
Given his 2024, it’s hard to imagine he won’t win in 2025. But golf is a strange game at times and ultimately, it might well happen.
