With the 2025 PGA Tour season in the books, it feels like a great time to assess just how close Scottie Scheffler is to reaching Tiger Woods’ level
There is no question that Scottie Scheffler is the most dominant player the game has seen since Tiger Woods was at the peak of his powers.
The winners of the four majors in 2026 will be…

Scheffler added another six wins to his tally this past year, including two major titles. He is now only a US Open victory away from completing the Career Grand Slam.
And you would not bet against him getting the job done when the event heads to Shinnecock Hills in 2026.
The area of the game where Scottie Scheffler is already outperforming Tiger Woods
Eclipsing Woods is going to take a monumental effort. The 29-year-old is 11 majors adrift currently, while it is fair to say that Woods’ impact on the game is, in reality, immeasurable.
But perhaps there is an area of the game where Scheffler is already better than Woods was.
Scheffler’s best performance of the season was arguably his victory at Royal Portrush in the final major of the year. And speaking on 5 Clubs, former PGA Tour player Brendon de Jonge lauded how impressive Scheffler’s approach play was on his way to lifting the Claret Jug.

“I think it’s efficient because that’s all it has to be. He doesn’t find himself in these crazy spots where you’ve got to hit a lob shot over a bunker or whatever it might be,” he said.
“The way he manages a golf course is unbelievable. I walked a lot with him at The Open Championship and obviously the wind’s going to blow pretty good in Ireland. The ability to keep hitting the ball pin high is something that we’ve never seen, and it may be even better than Tiger there.”
The frightening consistency of Scottie Scheffler’s iron play
It is nearly impossible to definitively compare different eras. There are so many factors which have to be considered, such as the rivals the dominant player had.
But the gap between Scheffler and his peers when it comes to his iron play suggests that the four-time major champion would probably be competitive against the best the game has ever seen.
Scheffler has been first for strokes gained approach in each of the last three PGA Tour seasons. And in 2022, he was fourth.
How many majors do you think Scottie Scheffler will win during his career?
The world number one already has four majors under his belt
His putting has improved considerably in 2025. And he just does not make many mistakes throughout the round.
With that, it is difficult to know what anyone can do to prevent 2026 being Scheffler’s year also.
