Scottie Scheffler paid tribute to Tom Kim after the world number one won a play-off against the South Korean to secure the Travelers Championship on Sunday.
Scottie Scheffler is a six-time champion in 2024 – and it is not even July. The 27-year-old had a bit of a point to prove after a poor US Open by his outrageous standards, with Scheffler nowhere near being in contention on Sunday at Pinehurst.
He started Sunday at the Travelers Championship one shot behind Tom Kim, who had led from the start, having opened his tournament with a -8 62 on Thursday.
The pair ended up in a play-off as they finished at least two shots of the rest of the field, with Scheffler coming out on top on the first extra hole.

Nevertheless, speaking on CBS Sports, Scheffler was quick to praise the youngster as he reflected on yet another victory on the PGA Tour this season.

“It’s pretty special, it’s been a great season. I’ve been fortunate to come away with some wins, and it’s been a lot of fun. Tom played his heart out today, he’s a great player, a great champion. It was fun battling with him today,” he said.
Many victories ahead of South Korean
Many of the golfing world really fell in love with Kim during the 2022 Presidents Cup when he seemed to inspire an International team which had been written off after they had seen a number of their key men jump to LIV Golf.
Kim showed what a competitor he is that week at Quail Hollow. And he appears to have a huge future ahead of him considering that he has already won three times on the PGA Tour.
He was unable to make it four wins on Sunday, but his time will definitely come again – even in this era when Scheffler seems to win almost every time he tees it up.
