Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy played alongside one another during the first two rounds of the BMW Championship on Thursday and Friday.
Scheffler currently sits in second place at the BMW Championship after rounds of 66 and 65 while McIlroy is down in 11th after a 70 and a 66.
Both Scheffler and McIlroy said on Thursday at the BMW Championship that they enjoy playing with one another.
However, the world number one is clearly streets ahead of the Northern Irishman right now in pretty much every single department.

Scheffler’s first two rounds at the BMW Championship have actually been remarkable in the sense that he hasn’t been at his usual brilliant best with his irons.
It has actually been the 29-year-old’s putting and driving that have formed the cornerstone of his success this week.
Scottie Scheffler comments on Rory McIlroy’s pace of play at the BMW Championship
Scheffler and McIlroy share a rivalry, but it’s a friendly one, there is no doubt about that.
Both players respect each other greatly.
However, Scheffler has clearly got the better of McIlroy more often than not over the past few years.
The American addressed the media after his second round in Baltimore on Friday, and was asked what it is like playing alongside the Northern Irishman.

“Yeah, it’s always fun playing with Rory, we draw a nice crowd. The crowd did a great job of cheering us both on.
“He’s a great pairing. He plays fast, he plays well and we had a good time out there.“
McIlroy is renowned for being one of the faster players on the PGA Tour. At a time when the game is in the midst of a pace of play crisis, the Masters Champion definitely goes against the grain when it comes down to the amount of time he takes over his shots.
Scottie Scheffler comments on his bogey-free round at the BMW Championship
Scheffler’s form over the past few years has been magnificent.
However, he seems to have reached a whole new level entirely this season.
The American responded after his second round when asked about going bogey-free.
He said: “Yeah, bogey-free is always nice. I would have liked to get to have gotten a couple better looks down the stretch, but didn’t hit as many fairways the last few holes, and out here with the way the holes are shaped, you’ve got to be in play, and did a good job of saving pars when I needed to on the back.“
He is in a league of his own right now, certainly when it comes down to consistency. Here are his stats from the first two rounds at Caves Valley compared with McIlroy’s:
| Stats | Scheffler’s rank | McIlroy’s rank |
| Off the tee | 1st | 15th |
| Approach | 17th | 18th |
| Around the green | 6th | 28th |
| Putting | 5th | 10th |
| Total | 2nd | 11th |
There has not been a player as dominant as Scheffler is right now on the PGA Tour since the days of Tiger Woods’ prime.
The challenge for the Texan will be to maintain the level he’s at now for the next decade or so, and if he does that, he will end up as one of the true greats of the game.
