Scottie Scheffler won his fifth PGA Tour event of the season and 18th overall as he pipped Robert MacIntyre to the BMW Championship.
Scheffler rallied from four back overnight to win out by two shots in the end and once again underline his position as the world’s best player.
For Scheffler, it was just a typical day at the office as MacIntyre made mistakes early on while he simply went about his business with minimal errors.
Just like Scheffler did at the Players in 2024, it was a superb comeback victory and sent yet another message to the rest of the PGA Tour that he is very much the best around right now.
Nevertheless, and in what is another admirable facet to his personality, Scheffler still found time to be gracious in victory and towards MacIntyre.

Scottie Scheffler says why he needed his best to beat Robert MacIntyre
Seeing Scottie Scheffler in full flow like this and make a six-shot swing on MacIntyre was quite mesmerising.
At times, Scheffler plays shots that are so good that it almost scrambles the brain, not to mention his consistency is better than anyone else’s.
Still, what is just as admirable is his way of not getting over-excited and speaking after mopping up on 18 to win, Scheffler was full of gratitude.
“I think it definitely played more difficult this week than it did a few years ago. Greens definitely had a lot of pitch to them. Yeah, the golf course changed significantly. I think they tried to make it more difficult, which obviously I think the winning score this year was much different than it was a few years ago, and I think they accomplished their mission in that sense,” Scheffler said when speaking to the media.
Asked about his spectacular chip on 17, Scheffler explained his thought process.
“I knew it was an important shot in the golf tournament. Bob made a nice birdie there on 16, and I knew it was going to be a battle all the way until the end. Starting the day four shots back, Bob made some mistakes early in the round, but I knew he wasn’t going to make many more as the day went on. He did a good job of battling all day without his best stuff.
“When that chip goes in, you know it’s a pretty cool shot, but the job is not nearly finished after that. Bob could just as easily chip his in, and you don’t know what’s going to happen, so you’ve got to stay focused and did a good job hitting the fairway and the green there on 18 and gave myself a pretty stress-free par.”
Going into further detail on making his comeback and how he feels about MacIntyre, the world number one praised the Scot.
“Well, it’s always about executing my game, but I knew I needed to get off to a good start today and Bob gave me a couple gifts there early in the round,” Scheffler continued.
“All of a sudden I went from being four back to we were standing on the third tee and I’m only one back, and all of a sudden, it’s like, all right, it’s game on now. No more cushy lead; it’s time to go get it. We did some good things there on the front nine and then kept him at bay there on the back nine.
“Bob is a great player. I knew him making some mistakes early, he wasn’t going to continue to do that all day. He was going to fight and claw his way back, which he did, and he should be proud of the fight that he had this week, and it was a good battle out there.”
MacIntyre v Scheffler could make stunning Ryder Cup viewing
Right now, Scottie Scheffler is the one who holds the upper-hand in this battle.
However, with the Ryder Cup just months away and with MacIntyre having that fiery nature to succeed, a match-up at Bethpage Black could be scintillating.
Not only has the Scot got his eye on revenge, but after having run-ins with the crowds over the weekend, we could be in for fireworks in New York.
With MacIntyre in such fine form, Luke Donald will be delighted and come September, we might be in for one of the greatest Ryder Cups in history.
Especially so, if MacIntyre can indeed get his revenge on Scheffler.
