Scottie Scheffler will be looking to earn his second win in his fourth start on the PGA Tour in 2026 this week at the Genesis Invitational.
Scheffler recorded his eighth consecutive top-four finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am last week and he heads to the Genesis Invitational in fine form after firing a final round 63 on Sunday.
After his round on Sunday, Scheffler sounded bullish about his chances of winning the Genesis and it would take a brave man to bet against him.
Is Scottie Scheffler more likely to end up with 50 PGA Tour wins and 10 majors or 25 wins and 5 majors?
Have we already seen the best of Scottie Scheffler?
The current world number one has the full package and if he improves his iron play even slightly this week from what he has produced recently, he will most likely win at Riviera.
It has even been claimed that Rory McIlroy ‘idolizes’ Scottie Scheffler’s consistency.
The 29-year-old Dallas native has won 20 PGA Tour events in his last 83 starts. So, could he make it 21 in 84 this week in Los Angeles?
Scottie Scheffler gives his opinion on Riviera as a golf course
Scheffler’s record at the Genesis Invitational is actually not great.
He has made six cuts from seven starts and has only recorded three top-10 finishes with his best result a T-3 in 2025, when the tournament wasn’t even held at Riviera!
He’ll be hoping for a big improvement this week on his past results at Riviera.
Scheffler addressed the media on Wednesday after the Pro-Am and responded when asked to give his honest opinion on Riviera as a golf course.

“As far as the golf course goes, I think it’s an interesting golf course, because there are not really many hazards,“ Scheffler explained.
“There’s not really too much out of bounds that comes into play.
“Like, when you think of some of the other great golf courses like TPC Sawgrass, you get a lot of water that comes into play.
“And when you look at this golf course, and you look at it on paper, it seems kind of easy, and then you start playing it, and you, like, hit a ball in the rough on two.
“You’re like, ‘man, this hole is kind of hard’.
“And then you don’t hit the fairway on three and you’re like, ‘oh, shoot, like, I don’t know how’m gonna hit the ball on the green here’.
“And then the golf course just kind of eats away at you over time.
“I think it, like I said, the grass provides a different set of challenges than we see throughout the rest of the year.
“And I feel like this golf course can be about as frustrating to play as any on Tour, just with the little tricks that it has to it, but overall, if you execute out here, you’re gonna get rewarded for it.“
Scottie Scheffler’s PGA Tour stats in 2026
It’s obviously far too early in the season to draw any kind of conclusions regarding the state of Scheffler’s game.
However, his stats from the three events he has played so far this season do make for very interesting reading.
Here are his numbers from the three events he has played in 2026 in the five key categories.
| Stats | Scheffler’s 2026 rank |
| Strokes gained off the tee | 1st |
| Strokes gained approach | 51st |
| Strokes gained around the green | 11th |
| Strokes gained putting | 28th |
| Strokes gained total | 1st |
The category that really stands out there is Scheffler’s strokes gained approach.
He has been ranked 1st in that particular category on the PGA Tour for the past three seasons.
In three starts so far this year, he’s won once and has two top-four finishes to his name.
Can you imagine how many tournaments he will win if he rediscovers his masterful approach play?
Scottie Scheffler is highly likely to win The Genesis Invitational this week, if he finishes inside the top-20 for strokes gained approach at Riviera.
