Scottie Scheffler has been far and away the best player on the PGA Tour in 2025, just as he has been for the past three or four years.

It was actually a big surprise that Scheffler didn’t manage to secure his 18th PGA Tour title at the FedEx St. Jude Championship on Sunday.

The 29-year-old definitely didn’t have his best stuff in Memphis, but he still managed to end the week on 15-under par, one shot adrift of eventual winner Justin Rose.

On Sunday, Scheffler’s day got off to a bad start with Brad Payne filling in for Ted Scott on the bag.

And he made one too many sloppy and very uncharacteristic errors at TPC Southwind on day four of the tournament.

Scheffler thought the course for the St Jude Championship was ‘amazing’, but he was unable to bring his absolute best game to the final round on Sunday.

However, despite failing to win, the world number one still managed to equal a 52-year long PGA Tour record on Sunday in Memphis.

After Rory McIlroy won The Masters back in April, no player in world golf has been able to live with Scheffler.

And whilst his four wins, including two major championships, have been mightily impressive, he has done something else this season that is equally as eye-catching as his victories.

With his third-place finish at the St. Jude, Scheffler equalled a record set by Tom Weiskopf way back in 1973.

The world number one has now finished inside the top-8 in his last 12 tournaments on the PGA Tour:

That run of form is an example of just how consistent Scheffler is. Even when he’s not at the top of his game, he still finds a way to grind out top-8 finishes, and sometimes he even wins when he’s not at his best!

Scheffler has been unplayable at times this year, and he clearly has the intimidation factor similar to the one possessed by Tiger Woods in his heyday.

Here are the 29-year-old’s results from the 2025 season so far:

It would surprise nobody if Scheffler continued that streak with a couple of top-8 finishes at the BMW Championship and the Tour Championship over the next two weeks, after his solid performance at the FedEx St. Jude Championship last week.

The thing is, it would take a really brave man to bet against the man from Dallas, Texas, winning at least one of those events as well.
