Scottie Scheffler looked like nothing more than merely a poor imposter of himself during day three at the Travelers Championship on Saturday.

However, Scheffler bounced back in style on Sunday with a fine round of 65.

The 29-year-old posted a third round two-over par 72 at the Travelers Championship to fall nine back of the leader, Tommy Fleetwood.

The world number one turned 29 on Saturday, but it was a birthday to forget for him, as he carded two bogeys, a double bogey and a triple bogey during his round of 72.

Scheffler actually double bogeyed the 17th hole on day two of the Travelers, and that slip-up gave all of his competitors hope.

And his round on Saturday proved that the 29-year-old is actually fallible, contrary to popular belief!

The Dallas native looked like a complete shadow of his normal self at TPC River Highlands during his third round.

However, it came as no surprise to anybody when he came back on Sunday and fired a very impressive bogey-free round of 65.

Scottie Scheffler confirms what he’ll do after the Travelers Championship

Scheffler now has a vital few months lying ahead of him.

The world number one is set for two weeks off now, before returning to action at the Genesis Scottish Open.

So how does he feel about his performance at the Travelers Championship?

Scheffler was asked to sum up his week at TPC River Highlands.

He said: I did some good things this week. I think obviously I was looking for a little bit more, but overall not a bad week. If I have a different day yesterday I think it’s a different story, but can’t be perfect every day, just trying to do my best and, yeah, I fought back nicely today and posted a decent score.

I felt like I hit it a lot better today than I did yesterday, kept a clean card. I had some — today was the first day where I’ve been bogey-free, and I think this is a golf course where limiting your mistakes is really important. You’re going to get opportunities, but you got to limit your mistakes, and this week I just wasn’t able to do that.

The world number one was then asked what he’s planning to do now during his time off.

He replied, Go home and try to sleep for a few days, see if my little man’s going to allow that. Then I’ll start practicing toward the end of the week, get some rest, some recovery. I think I played five out of the last six weeks, been in contention a lot, so get home, get some rest and start preparing for the Scottish Open.

Yeah, I’ll continue to hit the shots that we need when we go over there and that’s pretty much it, yeah. Pretty simple.

One thing’s for sure, Scheffler will be as prepared as humanly possible for the Scottish and British Opens next month.

Scheffler’s insane consistency should be applauded

After his tied sixth finished at the Travelers, Scheffler now has 11 top-10s in 14 events played so far this season.

He has also finished inside the top-25 in every tournament he has played in.

The man is a machine, and had it not been for his poor third round 72, he probably would be on the verge of winning his 17th PGA Tour title right now.

Knowing Scheffler, he will have his game in tip-top shape for his two-week visit to Britain in July.

And would anyone actually put it past him becoming the first man since Phil Mickelson in 2013 to do the Scottish and British Open double?
