Scottie Scheffler will be keen to chalk up his second PGA Tour win of the 2026 season at Bay Hill this week as many of the best golfers on the planet gather in Orlando for the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Scheffler has played four PGA Tour events leading up to the Arnold Palmer Invitational and has a win, two top-5 finishes and a T-12 to his name.
The 29-year-old has actually struggled recently with his opening rounds.
Who do you think wins the API this week?
The PGA Tour's best players will be in action at Bay Hill…
Scheffler has shot 72 or worse in his last three opening rounds on the PGA Tour and he’ll be determined to change that on Thursday at Bay Hill.
It’s fair to say that the four-time major champion actually needs to shoot under par on Thursday in his opening round in order to prevent his recent first round struggles from becoming a serious mental block.
Scheffler is a two-time champion at Bay Hill, so his game is clearly a very good fit for the golf course at Arnie’s Place.
Now he has opened up on what he really makes of the recent changes made to the course.
Scottie Scheffler comments on the changes made to Bay Hill
Scheffler addressed the media in Orlando on Wednesday afternoon.
He was asked what he makes of the changes made to Bay Hill ahead of the Arnold Palmer Invitational this week.
“I always enjoy the harder tests that we see,“ Scheffler said.

“When you think about those golf courses, you think about Muirfield, even when it’s soft it’s really challenging.
“This golf course, I would say, with the way the rough is now, how firm the greens are, that just gets so challenging. Here in Orlando we typically always get wind. It’s very rare to get a stretch here where you don’t get a ton of wind.
“I feel like the standard is usually about 10 to 20 miles an hour, which for golf is a great amount of wind. It’s not anything crazy where you’re afraid your ball’s going to blow or oscillate or anything like that, but it’s challenging enough where you really got to hit it extremely solid to get the ball through the wind and control it.“
Scottie Scheffler on firm greens ahead of the Arnold Palmer invitational
Scheffler highlighted what specifically makes Bay Hill so challenging when hitting into the greens.
“Going into these greens, I mean, Tuesday afternoon, they were already basically dead they’re so firm,“ he said.
If Tiger Woods plays in The Masters this year, will he make the cut or miss the cut?
“Shaping up to be, I think, a very challenging week around the course. They made some changes with some runoff areas and stuff like that.
“I think overall I like the little, those kind of little things they did to the golf course.“
The changes to the golf course include more tightly-mown run-off areas around the greens.
That means the players will have more options when chipping around the greens this week.
It’s little wonder why Scheffler is a fan of the changes at Bay Hill, given how good his short game is.
Nobody should be surprised if the world number one wins the Arnold Palmer Invitational this week.
