The debut of Tiger Woods in TGL was largely overshadowed by the superb performance of the Los Angeles GC trio of Collin Morikawa, Justin Rose and Sahith Theegala.
Understandably, all eyes were on Tiger Woods heading into the second week of TGL. It also seemed imperative that the two teams built on the promising start made in the opening match of the league.
Unfortunately for Woods’ Jupiter Links, it proved to be a miserable curtain-raiser. Los Angeles strolled to a 12-1 victory, with all three Jupiter players struggling to get anything going at all.
That was not the case for the winners. Some of Collin Morikawa‘s shots were sublime, while Justin Rose reminded everyone why he has been such a thorn in the side of the USA players in Ryder Cups over the years.
Sahith Theegala shares what he found crazy about his TGL debut
And Sahith Theegala came up with some big moments of his own. He made a crucial putt just when there appeared to be an outside chance of Jupiter fighting back. But he was also one of the players struggling with his distances on a couple of his shots in the early stages.

And it turns out that the adrenaline was flowing. Speaking on the broadcast after hitting an approach on the eighth hole, Theegala noted how his distances were so different.
“I tell you what, I’m so amped up right now, it’s hard to control myself. I hit that 135 yards at home, it went 150 here because I’m so amped. I’m literally hitting it a club further so it’s pretty crazy,” he said.
What Theegala did on TGL bow which he never does in a PGA Tour tournament
It seems that little changed over the course of the evening. Theegala would hit Los Angeles’ tee shot on the following hole and send the ball well over 330 yards.
It turned out that the 27-year-old had reached a ball speed of 184 miles per hour. And he would immediately claim that he does not hit those kinds of speeds during a tournament.
Theegala is one of those players who endears himself to fans because of how much he appreciates the stage he is on. He seems to be incredibly humble, and you can imagine that he often feels like pinching himself.
So it is no surprise that he was so fired up on his TGL debut.
