PGA Tour star Sahith Theegala has highlighted one “pet peeve” that really annoys him whenever he watches golf on TV.

The 26-year-old, who starred in Netflix’s Full Swing series, has been talking ahead of this week’s Houston Open.

It’s been a solid start to 2024 for Theegala, having only failed to make the cut once. Four top tens and one runner-up finish put the California native in a good spot ahead of The Masters.

Theegala, who is clearly not afraid of TV time, has now highlighted something about modern-day coverage that gets on his nerves.

What gets on Sahith Theegala’s nerves?

Speaking ahead of this week’s tournament in Texas, the 26-year-old has suggested TV commentators understate some of the shots professional golfers produce.

“I have a pet peeve, sometimes when I watch golf on TV,” he explained [footage via Ten Golf].

“A great example is hole eight at Valspar last week. It’s a 230-yard Par 3, the green is 12 yards wide, and someone will hit the middle of the green and be like, ‘really smart’ shot there. I’m like, ‘No,’ he’s absolutely laced a 4-iron right where he’s looking to.”

Theegala did admit that commentators are getting better when it comes to giving pros credit.

“To hit a four iron that straight is really, really hard. I think commentators are getting a lot better at giving pros credit,” he added.

“Even like chipping, a lot of stuff looks flat on TV, but when you get there, you have to land it over a mound on a downslope.”

Theegala hasn’t featured since The Players Championship, where he tied for a ninth-place finish. His thirteen-under at TPC Sawgrass further proves he can mix it with the best.

After missing the Valspar Championship – won by Peter Malnati – the ‘Full Swing’ star is firmly in contention this week.

Another strong performance could even see his name mentioned as an outsider to stake a claim at The Masters.
