The Presidents Cup will take place between the United States and the International Team in Chicago next September.

The competition will never be as prestigious as the Ryder Cup, but it still holds significant meaning to the players, captains, and fans.

Especially for the International players who do not have the opportunity to play in the Ryder Cup, it is a huge honor to represent their team.

New Zealander Ryan Fox has now commented on the possibility of making captain Geoff Ogilvy’s squad for the event in 2026.

Ryan Fox desperate to make the 2026 Presidents Cup team

Ryan Fox had the best season of his professional golf career in 2025, winning his first and second PGA Tour events at the Myrtle Beach Classic and the Canadian Open.

He also finished in the top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings, narrowly missing out on the Tour Championship (top 30).

Fox’s goals for 2026 are now to play in the season-ending event at East Lake and to be selected for Ogilvy’s International Team for the Presidents Cup.

“Other than maybe making the Tour Championship, I ticked every box that I wanted to tick,” Fox said.

Who will win the Hero World Challenge?

“I think next year the big one is to be on Geoff’s team in September. That’s something I feel like I’ve missed out on the last couple of years, and I’m in a good place.

“I’m in all the big events for next year, so I really want to be a part of that team, and I’d love to make the Tour Championship; that’s another goal to tick off.

“It feels like we’ve got a good base of a team. A lot of guys are starting to play pretty well, and there’s going to be some good competition for spots.

“I’d certainly love to be one of those guys competing for a spot come July-August next year.”

Ryan Fox’s 2025 season was completely different from 2024

Ryan Fox’s breakthrough season on the PGA Tour is proof that success is not linear; it can happen at unexpected times.

Fox played his first full season in the United States last year, and he struggled to adjust to his new environment.

“I felt like I had to do a lot more to get myself in contention, let alone to make a cut, and it took a while to kind of figure that out. Just never quite got it going over there,” he reflected.

“I had some decent weeks without it being spectacular, and I’m hoping something is going to click at some point.”

At 38 years of age, everything suddenly fell into place for Fox this season, and he will take plenty of confidence into 2026.
