There’ll be no second major of the year for Rory McIlroy as he flopped in round three of the PGA Championship and now he’s being criticised by fans for some bizarre behaviour.
McIlroy could only get around Quail Hollow in level par as he once again struggled to put his game together.
With Scottie Scheffler at nine under par by the time McIlroy made his way off the course, The Masters winner is out of contention barring an utter miracle on Sunday.
Nevertheless, McIlroy’s issues on course this weekend could be the least of his worries.
In a bizarre move and for the third day running, McIlroy has opted not to speak with the media after his round.
McIlroy missing interviews is a bad look and over on social media, the Northern Irishman is coming under serious scrutiny as fans criticise his behaviour.

Rory McIlroy criticised as he skips media duties again at the PGA Championship
Rory McIlroy has been one of the most popular golfers in the world for some time now and he’s usually so good and generous with his media time.
However, missing three days in a row – when he’s not played well – simply looks terrible for McIlroy and fans have been calling him out on it on X.
One fan called him a ‘little baby‘ in the comments, while another labelled McIlroy a ‘dummy spitter’ after his refusal to speak.
Not being quite as harsh, one fan pointed out how McIlroy can’t have it both ways.
“He only talks after good rounds. Not the poster boy the PGA is looking for. As the Masters champ and now a grand slam winner it’s a bad look!!”
Another fan went a bit firmer, suggesting the pros can let you down in real life.
“DO NOT MEET A PROFESSIONAL GOLFER IN REAL LIFE. S—BAGS.”
Quite what is going on with McIlroy this week, is unknown.
He was quite chipper in his pre-round presser in mid-week and whether or not he remains a touch annoyed by some questions, only he knows.
Furthermore, there’s also been controversy over McIlroy’s driver being banned. Whether or not that is playing into him avoiding things, again, only he knows.
However, this is simply not a good look for one of the game’s biggest stars. McIlroy should speak to the press, at least once, and all this does is cause more division and ultimately, harm his own reputation.
