While Bob Does Sports have filmed with some of the biggest names in the game of golf right now, including Xander Schauffele, Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm, there are a few notable names probably still on their list, including Rory McIlroy.
It is no surprise to see more of the world’s best golfers take part in YouTube videos. Bryson DeChambeau has arguably become one of the most popular players in the world partially due to his work on the platform.
Rory McIlroy has taken part in videos in the past; recently appearing alongside Grant Horvat.
But it seems that Robby Berger had lost hope of getting McIlroy on the Bob Does Sports channel after an awkward interaction at the gas station.
Rory McIlroy responds to Robby Berger after awkward interaction at the gas station
Berger posted a video on his Instagram in which he confirmed that the Northern Irishman had never heard of his channel. And when he went to thank the four-time major champion for all he has done for golf, he instead thanked him for all he had done on YouTube.

Unsurprisingly, Berger was not particularly kind to himself as he retold the story of their brief interaction.
But perhaps there is reason for encouragement, with McIlroy himself responding to the video on Instagram. While he did not say anything about appearing in a video, it would appear that the lines of communication are open…

Interestingly, you will notice that there was also a – desperate – plea from Berger to DeChambeau.
How YouTube golf now offers such a good opportunity to PGA Tour players
Of course, McIlroy is not someone who needs to get more involved with YouTube content. He is someone who has broken into the mainstream and is arguably golf’s most recognisable face behind Tiger Woods right now.
But it is definitely a good time to be a fan of YouTube golf, particularly with the likes of the PGA Tour, the DP World Tour and LIV Golf embracing the platform more and more.
There is certainly a lot more that can be done. But at a time when Justin Thomas is urging players to give greater access to the media at tournaments, it would be no surprise to see more players work with content creators to build a stronger fanbase.
In the meantime, we will keep our fingers crossed that we are one step closer to a video which sees McIlroy take on Bobby Fairways, Joey Cold Cuts and Fat Perez.
