Rory McIlroy has been one of the most successful golfers over the past 15 years or so, if not the most successful.

McIlroy is trying to win his 30th PGA Tour event this week at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am – a tournament he triumphed at in 2025.

The Northern Irishman possess an enviable golfing résumé, and it’s fair to say that he’s won almost everything worth winning in the professional game.

Who do you prefer?

Bryson or Rory…

However, there are some titles that have managed to elude him throughout his career to date.

Over the past few years, McIlroy has been battling for supremacy with Scottie Scheffler and it’s fair to say that the American has got the better of him.

That said, the 36-year-old completed the career Grand Slam in 2025, becoming only the sixth player in history to win all four major championships.

That achievement highlights the impact McIlroy has had on the game. He’s far from done, though.

The man from Holywood, Northern Ireland, is determined to add to his golfing legacy even further still…

Rory McIlroy names two PGA Tour events he’s still desperate to win

McIlroy has won on some iconic venues throughout his career, including Pebble Beach, Congressional, Valhalla and TPC Sawgrass.

However, there are two tournaments he is still yet to win, and he’s determined to change that.

After his second round at Pebble Beach on Friday, McIlroy was asked if there are any tournaments he is yet to win that stick out to him as being ‘special’.

There are places I haven’t won that I would love to, St. Andrews being one of them, McIlroy admitted.

However, he then named two PGA Tour venues where he’s desperate to win for the first time.

Riviera next week would be another. Muirfield. I mean, Riviera and Muirfield Village are two but more so because of — I mean, they’re wonderful golf courses but who hosts the events as well. You know, Tiger and Jack.

I was able to win Bay Hill but not while Arnie was around, so it would be nice to win both those tournaments while both those guys are alive and kicking.

Got a few more years left for hopefully Tiger’s event. Jack’s obviously a little bit older. Yeah, those are two.

New goals for Rory McIlroy ahead of the 2026 PGA Tour season

McIlroy clearly has the game to win around both courses, and he’ll obviously be doing his utmost to add those two tournaments to his résumé over the course of the next decade or so.

The Northern Irishman has clearly set himself some new goals ahead of the 2026 PGA Tour season.

Who will win more on the PGA Tour in 2026 out of Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood?

Will anyone end 2026 with more PGA Tour wins than Scottie?

McIlroy really struggled with motivating himself after winning The Masters back in April 2025.

He suggested that he had climbed his own version of Mount Everest in succeeding at Augusta National in April.

However, he seems to have refocused and decided that he wants to add to his trophy collection, while going down as one of the all-time greats of the game.

He’s obviously capable of doing just that.

McIlroy winning PGA Tour events at Riviera and Muirfield Village would cap off what has been a tremendously successful career already.
