Rory McIlroy has enjoyed a phenomenal career so far, but the Northern Irishman will undoubtedly have big plans for more success.
The 35-year-old has four major titles to his name, having won the PGA Championship twice, along with the US Open and The Open.
A decade has, however, passed since he last tasted major success, with the pressure growing and growing with each unsuccessful year that passes.
Another opportunity to end his drought now awaits at the US Open, but a tricky test is in store at Pinehurst.
The North Carolina course will challenge the world’s best golfers this week, although McIlroy has already been tipped to come out on top by Peter Finch.

Rory McIlroy can repeat Jack Nicklaus feat at the US Open
The Northern Irishman may not have won a major for 10 years now, but he certainly has a strong history at the upcoming major.
In fact, a milestone last reached by legendary figure Jack Nicklaus is now in McIlroy’s sights as Pinehurst approaches.
As per Justin Ray on X, McIlroy is the only player to finish in the top-10 at the US Open in each of the last five years.
Nicklaus was the last player to make it six years in a row, achieving the feat between 1977 and 1982.
What is stopping Rory McIlroy from winning another major?
McIlroy has certainly come close to clinching a fifth major success over the years, but for various reasons has fallen short.
There is, of course, the small matter of his world-class competitors, with the Northern Irishman certain to face stiff competition once more this week.
It is, however, the mental side of his game that is holding McIlroy back, according to Paul McGinley, with an ‘element of doubt’ having crept into his approach.
But that doubt may have been pushed to one side thanks to his success this season, with the former world number one having won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and the Wells Fargo Championship earlier in the year.
He will, however, be eager to improve upon his 2024 major finishes, having tied for 22nd at the Masters and tied for 12th at the PGA Championship.
