Rory McIlroy produced a near flawless round of four-under par 66 on day three of the Scottish Open.

McIlroy is now tied for the lead with Chris Gotterup heading into the final round of The Scottish Open on Sunday.

The 35-year-old seems to be rejuvenated and refocused once again, and he looks to finish 2025 as strongly as he can.

McIlroy has attacked The Scottish Open with his driver all week long, and that somewhat risky strategy has paid dividends for him.

There isn’t a better driver of the golf ball in the game than the Northern Irishman when he’s on song.

McIlroy actually said he’s not a huge fan of the seventh hole at The Renaissance Club earlier this week, and interestingly, he bogeyed that hole on Saturday. However, the rest of his golf was simply sensational.

McIlroy is now set up perfectly to win his fourth PGA Tour title of 2025.

The Northern Irishman has seemingly got his motivation back after a difficult last two months or so.

McIlroy spoke to Sky Sports in the UK after his third round at The Renaissance Club on Saturday, and responded when asked to give his opinion on the Scottish Open crowd this week.

He said: It’s been amazing. The atmosphere today was incredible. I think they had a sell out. And I think it’s a sell out again tomorrow. But it’s amazing to play in front of fans like that and in an atmosphere like that. I’m excited to be in that final group tomorrow and hopefully feel more of the same.

McIlroy seems like a different animal now he’s back in the United Kingdom.

And if he manages to take his current feel-good vibes to Royal Portrush next week, his competitors had better watch out.

Rory McIlroy’s PGA Tour record since his Masters win

McIlroy has struggled with motivation since completing the career Grand Slam at Augusta National in April.

Here is how his record looks since that famous Masters win three months ago:

Considering McIlroy’s ability, those results are simply not good enough.

However, this week in Scotland he has looked much more like his old self.

Now it’s time for McIlroy to go out in the final round of The Scottish Open on Sunday and remind everyone just how good he is.

McIlroy said he needed a it bit of time to comes to terms with what he had actually achieved after his win at Augusta.

The five-time major winner explained: It’s my first realistic chance to win after The Masters. I have had a great season, I won at Pebble and The Players. But I said this, when you do something when you have been dreaming your whole life to do, it was a huge moment in my life and my career.

I think I just needed that little bit of time. To be back here for the last couple of weeks and to feel like I could digest all of it. I feel like I came to this tournament with renewed enthusiasm and excitement for the rest of the year.

Now he needs to get back on the horse.
