Robert MacIntyre is right in the mix once again at the Scottish Open and will go head to head with Ludvig Aberg tomorrow for the win.

The popular Scotsman produced a sensational round of seven under to rocket up the leaderboard and end the day just two shy of the impressive Aberg.

As we all know, MacIntyre went close to winning the Scottish Open last year before a miracle shot from Rory McIlroy ended his hopes on the last hole.

However, he’s right back in the mix and three clear of McIlroy this time, meaning he has a superb chance of landing the title.

And talking about the upcoming final round, MacIntyre has made a telling admission when it comes to the Scottish Open.

Robert MacIntyre admits what we all already knew about the Scottish Open

Speaking to the press after his excellent third round of seven under par, MacIntyre admitted that deep down, the Scottish Open is the one he wants before his career ends.

“Overall I played absolutely brilliantly. Tee to green was solid again, rolled the putter beautifully. I’ve just got to let it happen, and it happened,” McIntyre told Sky Sports.

“I’ve not been shy in saying it, the Scottish Open is the one that I want. That’s my end goal, I’ve said it from the start of the week. The Scottish Open on a resume for my whole career is what I want.

“I’ve just got to go and play golf and let it happen. I can’t force it, there’s so many good players in the tournament chasing me down. I can only control me and I’ve controlled myself very well so far.

“I’ve got 18 holes to control myself even more.”

MacIntyre will need to ensure he is at his very best to both catch Aberg and see off those below him.

A cluster of top players are within a few shots of him.

As we mentioned, Rory McIlroy is there, but so are Adam Scott, Sahith Theegala, and Collin Morikawa, among others.

The Scot, then, will need his absolute A-game if he is to get over the line.
