Robert MacIntyre enjoyed a fantastic season in 2025, with the hard work now ongoing for the 2026 campaign.

MacIntyre didn’t manage to add to his PGA Tour wins tally, but he did emerge victorious elsewhere in 2025.

The Scot won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in October, with the success arriving just after his Ryder Cup heroics.

MacIntyre played a key role for Team Europe as they clinched the Ryder Cup in September, when they defeated the USA at Bethpage Black.

Robert MacIntyre shares what he’s trying to improve for 2026

Now, the 29-year-old has shared insight into his current thought process, and indeed what he’s really trying to improve for 2026.

He told The Scotsman: “It’s not massive things. It’s not like gaining a shot with this or that. It’s fractions of shots per round that you are trying to gain and, yeah, when you look at it, I’m in a position right now where, if the cards fall my way and I play well at the right time, I honestly believe I can do anything I want in the game of golf.

“I’m hitting more fairways, whether it is one or two per round, which then leads in to hitting more greens because you are on the fairway. Greens in regulation have gone back up, which is quite a boring stat.

“At the end of the day, the best players in the world are the guys who hit most greens because it’s less stress or it correlates that the best players are the ones with the highest greens in regulation. It’s stuff like that.

“There’s little things like wedges that I am trying to improve. Again, though, it’s not a case of trying to improve things massively which then has an effect on something else. It’s all about finding a balance.”

Why Robert MacIntyre can be really confident of a big 2026 season

While MacIntyre couldn’t follow on from his two wins in 2024, he really impressed on the PGA Tour in 2025.

His season involved just two missed cuts from 23 appearances, while he finished as runner-up on two occasions.

One of those arrived at the US Open at Oakmont, where he was agonizingly pipped to the post by J.J. Spaun.

MacIntyre also enjoyed himself on the DP World Tour, finishing sixth in the Race to Dubai rankings as his Ryder Cup teammate Rory McIlroy lifted the trophy.

The Scot has yet another reason to be positive for 2026 thanks to his current world ranking of seventh, his career best.
