Rickie Fowler is finely poised to pounce ahead of the final round at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Fowler has been in the golfing wilderness for far too long now.

His last win came back in July 2023, and he has only two victories to his name since the start of the 2019 season.

However, that could all change on Sunday in the final round of the Charles Schwab Challenge.

It hasn’t been completely plain sailing for the 36-year-old at Colonial Country Club this week.

Fowler said that he finds the fifth hole at the Charles Schwab Challenge really tricky to navigate.

However, he has done a really good job at keeping himself in the tournament, and he will head into the final day in third place, four shots adrift of leaders Matti Schmid and Ben Griffin.

Fowler clearly means business heading into the final round at Colonial.

He has gone about his business in extremely workmanlike fashion this week.

The six-time PGA Tour winner has made only four bogeys all week, and if he keeps the blemishes off the card on Sunday, and makes plenty of birdies, he may well win his seventh tour title.

Fowler spoke to reporters after his third round 67, and sent a message to Schmid and Griffin.

He said, Yeah, I’m looking forward to it. I mean, I haven’t been far off for quite a while. I’ve seen glimpses here and there of some really good golf. Very comfortable around this place. I’ve been around here a lot and really enjoy playing at Colonial.

So, yeah, looking forward to tomorrow. Everyone is very good, so experience does help, but we’ve got a couple of guys that are out there a little ways in front of me, and see if we can go chase them down.

If Fowler plays to his full potential, he will have every chance of winning in Fort Worth on Sunday.

Rickie Fowler 2025 PGA Tour stats

In the cold light of day, Fowler’s numbers this season aren’t all that impressive at all.

However, his stats this week at Colonial Country Club have been very impressive.

Here is where he stands in the four main statistical categories during the 2025 season compared with this week in Fort Worth, Texas:

Statistical categoryFowler’s 2025 PGA Tour rankFowler’s rank at the Charles Schwab Challenge
Strokes gained off the tee78th11th
Strokes gained approach to green116th35th
Strokes gained putting117th6th
Strokes gained total134th3rd

If Fowler is to win on Sunday, he needs to drive the ball well, hit his irons in close and roll in some putts early on.

A round in the mid-60s may well be enough for Fowler to get his first win in two years.
