Tiger Woods has had some memorable moments in his career but few are quite as memorable as his famous chip in at The Masters in 2005.

Woods’ chip in from off the green on the 16th is one of the most iconic shots in golf history and in terms of the moment and how it was captured by broadcasters at the time, few moments can rival it.

The 15-time major winner went on to win the event in 2005, with his chip-in on 16 seen as one of the most pivotal moments in the tournament and certainly, most memorable.

Now, 20 years on from that famous day at Augusta, it seems current PGA players are being asked about that very moment.

And according to Rickie Fowler, it’s just one of many Tiger moments he looks back fondly on.

Rickie Fowler names his favourite Tiger Woods moments ever

Rickie Fowler is one of the players very much influenced by Tiger Woods and like so many on the PGA Tour, he often speaks highly of Woods.

However, when asked at the Cognizant Classic to name his favourite Tiger moment of all time, Fowler admitted there were a few to choose from.

“When you look at — I know I played with the guy who runs Nike Golf, and I know that was a pretty special moment for them because that was basically a commercial for them with the ball going in. Definitely an iconic shot,” Fowler said.

“For me going back, it’s either him winning his first in ’97. That was a special one, and him breaking the scoring record there. Then probably his last in I believe that was ’19. He’s had multiple, so it’s hard to maybe pick just one.”

Shane Lowry shares his memories of Tiger Woods famous 16th chip-in at the 2005 Masters

Like anyone who’s played golf over the last few decades, most will remember where they were for some of the biggest moments.

Indeed, with Woods’ famous shot in 2005, it seems everyone has a story and Shane Lowry has revealed what he remembers of the situation.

“Yeah, I remember watching it. I don’t know where I was. But I definitely watched it,” Lowry said.

“I grew up playing golf watching Tiger Woods, then going out the next day trying to do what he did the night before. That’s the way I learned. I’m sure I was out on the course the following day trying to hit the same shot, with probably no success. But I was trying anyway.”

With Woods set to turn 50 soon, time is running out to create more memorable moments and golf fans – and arguably some players – long for the day Woods produces the goods again.
