Of course, with the 2024 season now in the books, thoughts are not only turning to 2025 on the PGA Tour but also the inaugural year of TGL.

There is going to be plenty of intrigue surrounding TGL, with the concept – which was partially founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy – extremely different to basically anything any of the world’s best players have been involved in previously.

But the good news for TGL – which saw its debut pushed back a year – is that the league boasts six extremely strong teams. As well as Woods and McIlroy; Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Aberg, Wyndham Clark, Hideki Matsuyama, and Tommy Fleetwood are amongst those involved.

Of course, the idea is that the players will be hitting into a giant screen and playing on a simulator until they reach the green. But everything will take place inside SoFi Center.

And speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Rickie Fowler of New York Golf Club shared his verdict on the venue after recently visiting for the first time.

“Yeah, Xander and I have been down to see the SoFi Center and it’s impressive. You can see pictures [of the screen] and it really doesn’t do it justice until you see it in person,” he said.

“You’re hitting from about 60 yards away, so you’re seeing the ball fly into the screen. It’s not immediate.”

Who is on each TGL team

It is going to be fascinating to see whether the TGL concept really takes off. Certainly, it has a phenomenal chance when you consider how many top PGA Tour players have brought into the idea and are set to feature in the debut season.

And some of the matchups could be mouthwatering. Hopefully, this is the kind of format which does not take too much of a strain on Tiger Woods. And it is going to be brilliant to hear what all of the players are saying – particularly if they do engage in some trash talk.

Whatever you think of LIV Golf, its formation proved that the PGA Tour needed to adapt if it was going to be able to keep its spot as the best tour on the planet.

And while the tour is clearly still some way short of being perfect, innovations like TGL definitely have the potential to bring a completely different fanbase to the game.
