Tyrrell Hatton has shared how he had to step in to help Legion XIII teammate Caleb Surratt ahead of the next LIV event in Las Vegas this week.
It has been a brilliant start to life on the breakaway tour for Tyrrell Hatton and his new teammates. Hatton’s final day 64 helped Legion XIII win the team competition in LIV’s season opener at Mayakoba last weekend. Jon Rahm meanwhile, only missed out on making the play-off alongside Joaquin Niemann and Sergio Garcia for the individual title after finishing with two bogeys.
LIV is in Las Vegas this week. And it seems that Rahm’s team just about avoided a bumpy start to the week as they checked into their hotel.

Fortunately for 19-year-old Caleb Surratt, Hatton was able to help him out – as he explained in the team’s latest press conference.
“Checking in yesterday, I kept looking over to Caleb and he was looking over at me quite nervous, so once I finished checking in, I just wandered over to make sure he was okay. And as I got there, the lady checking him in was saying that he needed someone over 21 to be on the reservation to allow him to stay in the room. So I had to hand over my driver’s licence to make sure he had a bed for the night,” he said.
Youngster impressed on LIV debut
It was a very promising debut for Surratt in Mexico last week. The teenager shot a final round 67 to finish -5 for the tournament. That left him just two shots behind Hatton, and five back of their captain, Rahm.
He is not someone many fans would have known a lot about before his move to LIV. But Rahm including him in his team for this season is a major indicator that he has a very bright future ahead.
The team format on LIV is yet to win everyone over. For now however, Surratt will be very pleased to have his teammates around him given that he does not turn 21 until next year.
