TalkSPORT’s Ally McCoist has waxed lyrical about the golf played this weekend by Rory McIlroy, who won the Dubai Desert Classic once again.
McIlory stormed back from ten shots behind after the first two days to win by one shot ahead of Adrien Meronk.
The Northern Irishman played some sublime golf along the way but chucked in the odd error as well to make it the usual exciting round to watch from Rory.
And speaking about McIlroy’s performance on TalkSPORT earlier today, former Rangers striker and avid golf fan McCoist explained what makes McIlroy so exciting.

Speaking about the four-time major winner’s overall game, McCoist couldn’t help but feel McIlroy would make life easier for himself if he took a few less risks.
“He was different class yesterday, he was better the day before, I think he shot a 63. I watched a lot of it and I never moved, the weather was shocking, and he’s really a great watch Rory. He was sitting on the 13th I think, he’s three shots clear and what he should do is, he should just play two irons and chip on to the green at the par five. And he pulls his driver out and sticks it in the trees because he thinks he can go for it,” McCoist said.
“That aside, some of the golf yesterday, brilliant. I mean he was unlucky the week before, I think that was the Dubai Desert Classic yesterday, I think the week before was the Dubai Invitational. But he three-putted from about two feet and Tommy Fleetwood came in and pinched it.”
McIlroy’s early season form has already seen him tipped to be one of the favourites to finally win The Masters this year.
He is yet to win a green jacket and needs it to complete the career grand slam.
As it stands, it’s looking like he has as good a chance as ever to finally nail it and put his name among the cluster of players who have indeed won all four majors.
