The PGA Tour and LIV Golf could be on course to finally come to some sort of agreement after their meeting earlier this week.

Talks have been ongoing for what seems like an eternity now between the PGA and the PIF-backers who launched the LIV tour a few years ago.

Things have become more complicated in more recent times as the PGA signed a deal with SSG to provide investment into the tour.

However, hopes have still been high over a deal with the Saudi-based PIF and according to one experienced journalist – citing an agent in the game – things have taken a big step forward.

Journalist shares what agent has told him about LIV and PGA deal

Taking to X today to break the news, experienced golf journalist Adam Shipnuck provided an update on apparent progress between the parties.

Sharing details of a draft agreement being agreed, Shipnuck has said that a ‘prominent agent’ who has links to both LIV and the PGA suggests something has been sorted.

“A prominent agent who has clients on both tours tells me a “draft agreement” was signed today between PGA Tour Enterprises and the PIF to finalize Saudi investment in the Tour,” Shipnuck said.

“This is definite progress but the devil is in the details, which have not yet been leaked.”

Quite whether we’ll see anymore on this during the week of the US Open, remains to be seen.

However, it is clear something is in the works.

LIV and PGA deal can’t come soon enough

We’ve spoken on this before on the Golfing Gazette but it really is high time a deal was done between the dealmakers involved.

The constant talk of money, who is earning what on LIV, and then those LIV players not being eligible for certain events has become tiresome at best.

This news, of course, feels like some sort of step in the right direction.

Hopefully, over the coming weeks and months, more details can be ironed out and the golfing world can simply get back to putting on regular events where all the very best players in the world compete.
