It is just under three months until the Presidents Cup, with many of the best on the PGA Tour set to face off in Montreal in the 15th staging of the event.

Mike Weir is hoping to lead the International side to just their second ever victory in the event, while Jim Furyk returns to the captaincy role after leading the American team at the 2018 Ryder Cup in France.

Team USA won 17.5-12.5 at Quail Hollow two years ago, but the Internationals won a lot of admirers with the way that they bounced back from losing some of their key players to LIV Golf in the weeks before the event and a dismal first day to set up even a bit of drama on Sunday.

It is going to be an amazing atmosphere at The Royal Montreal Golf Club, with the Canadian Open providing a hint of the support Weir’s men will have in September.

But how many Canadians are set to be involved at the Presidents Cup? Six players will automatically qualify for both sides, while Furyk and Weir will both complete their teams with six captain’s picks.

And here is a look at how the qualification standings are looking after the Rocket Mortgage Classic last week…

US Team

Unsurprisingly, the big mover in the top 15 on the American side was Akshay Bhatia, with the 22-year-old finishing tied for second in Detroit. Bhatia three-putted on the final green to hand Cameron Davis his second win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, but his performance has seen the youngster move into the top 10 in the qualification standings.

He is actually the only player in the top 20 to move up the rankings this week, with many of the big names resting up ahead of The Open Championship.
