The Ryder Cup witnessed a huge momentum shift in the Sunday singles, with the USA giving Europe a major scare before the away side eventually held on to win 15-13.

Europe started the final session of the Ryder Cup with all the momentum, looking very likely to continue their dominance and secure a huge victory over the USA.

But the home side quickly turned that around at Bethpage Black, creating a stunning atmosphere with their tremendous fightback.

The American fans really got behind their team as Sunday’s matches progressed, despite Europe seemingly edging even closer to victory before the first tee off.

Luke Donald’s side claimed a half point along with the USA after Viktor Hovland’s Ryder Cup withdrawal, with the Norwegian unable to play his singles clash due to injury.

It fell short in the end, but the impressive fightback was started by New York’s very own Cameron Young, who produced a stunning display to edge out Justin Rose.

And it was a display that caught the eye of Ryder Cup veteran Phil Mickelson, who has been really impressed by his compatriot all week.

PGA Tour winner suggests Cameron Young will be on the US Ryder Cup team again in 2027

Young really did have a Ryder Cup to remember, with his feats all the more impressive given that he was making his debut at the prestigious event.

And his home status meant he would have been feeling extra pressure, having undoubtedly wanted to deliver a successful display in front of his fans.

He did exactly that and more, ending his Ryder Cup with three points from his four matches played for Keegan Bradley’s side.

Young also left Michael Kim impressed, with the one-time PGA Tour winner writing on X: “Cam Young might as well book his ticket to Adare Manor right now. Wow what a freaking putt on 18.”

The 2027 Ryder Cup is some way away, but it would be foolish for the future American captain to leave out Young after his fantastic week at Bethpage.

It started with a Friday four-ball win alongside Justin Thomas, and continued on Saturday with a foursomes victory alongside Bryson DeChambeau.

There was also a four-ball defeat alongside Thomas on Saturday, but Young can hold his head extremely high after a very positive showing overall.

Thomas was really impressed by Young on his Ryder Cup debut, although the former also had a week to remember, playing an inspiring role for the US side.

It did look relatively easy to pick an American MVP after two days, but even with the American fightback thanks to a handful of standout displays, Young arguably still deserves the title.
